The price is excellent for what is a full-colour and heavy hardback. The book is attractively presented and there are photos of all the smoothies. Or are there...? I got to the back and discovered that all the photos have been bought in from stock photo website companies. I think this is quite deceitful because you think you're seeing a photo of the recipe made up, when in fact you're not - it's just a stock photo that could have been made of anything. Presumably the author actually tested her recipes, so why not have them photographed?
Also, while it's fair to say that there are recipes that call for low-fat yogurt, sorbet or skimmed milk, there are a large number of recipes that specify full-fat milk, double cream and multiple scoops of ice cream. The inclusion of such high-fat, high-calorie ingredients means you cannot call these smoothies in any way healthy. Another problem with the ingredients is there are a number that I've never seen in UK supermarkets (despite the book being published here), such as apricot or pineapple-lemon sorbet, pear nectar, ginger ice cream or apple & pear frozen yogurt.
Some of the smoothies are probably very tasty but I felt misled over the photos and would have preferred more recipes that didn't rely on fat-loaded ingredients, so I decided not to keep the book. Other smoothie books are better than this one, I'm afraid.
