5.0 out of 5 stars An unkown champion. One of boxing's best. 20 Feb 2002
Joe Frazier was one of the world's best boxers. The first man to beat Ali in the ring was sadly in the background of Ali's Fame. The Thrilla in Manilla has got to be one of the best 15 rounds of boxing you will ever see. This book takes us through Joe Frazier's life from childhood to present day. It tells us how he grew up on a farm with his huge poor family and broke free to move to Philadelphia and take up boxing. After winning gold in the 1964 Olympics he went on to become heavyweight champion of the world. The book is a great read and I would recommend this to anyone. Even if you don't know the boxing jargon, it is kept nice and easy by Smokin Joe's 'Mr Nice Guy' manner. Well written and interesting.
