The Pie Hit Form 8 Feb 2006
Format:Audio CD
Following the departure of Peter Frampton, Humble Pie released Smokin' and what an album this is!! Steve Marriott really tkes control on this prodution and takes the band in his bluesy/rock direction.
Great vocals from Marriott and great riffs from himself and Clemson. Really enjoyed this album and it is clear that Humble Pie have influenced many of todays artists such as The Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz, Paul Weller as well as many other pretenders.

There will never be another like Steve Marriott, he was a great vocalist and he knew how to knock out a good tune too. Its a shame that Humle Pie never really continued this form and that ultimately Marriott was taken away when he still had so much to give.

You will be pleasantly suprised by this album and it shows Steve Marriott at his best and on top of his game.

Treat yourself!!

Still smokin' 2001 9 Oct 2001
Format:Audio CD
Probably Humble pie's most successful lp (hitting number 6 in the USA), the band really are on top form. From the opening snarl of 'Hot an' Nasty' , a fantastic cover of Cochran's 'C'mon everybody' through to the cool blues of 'Roadrunner' this album at last captures the energy that the band produced on stage. Showcasing the talents of new guitarist Clem Clempson, together with Marriot, Ridley and Shirley, with 'Smokin'' the band went along way to justiying their supergroup tag. Despite this, follow up albums never really lived up to smokin's qualities, but it remains great evidence of the potential the band had.

steve marriot and co [without frampton] Do an album called smokin. this album is so fresh and breezy in a soulful rock sort of way there's a few covers here which are better than the originals Marriot wrote some fantastic songs Hot and Nasty being one masterpiece. after this album humble pie went downhill so if you want a great album to remember humble pie mark 2 by then i sugest you buy this if you don't mind a bit of soul mixed into rock. standout tracks hot and nasty you're so good to me, the fixer and c'mon everybody
