3.0 out of 5 stars AFX does The Bug 28 April 2004
Format:Audio CD
Well, admittedly those noise tracks are pretty pointless, but then isn'tall music?
This EP's redeeming track is a remix of The Bug's "Run the place Red", andit's a riot. Ridiculously heavy beats, imagine dancehall ragga crossedwith gabber-techno (although for purists, the bpm is half gabber-speed,just with an accelerated feel). It's a joyful and aggresive assault, andcertainly a track that all AFX and Bug obsessives should check out if theydon't own it already.
For anyone else who likes the first track but hates the others, you shouldinvest in a copy of The Bug's "pressure" LP or perhaps Venetian Snares'"The Chocolate Wheelchair album" for more ragga inspired electro-insanity.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice C.d colour 17 Jun 2003

Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
The E.p starts with a great remix of one of the bugs best tunes but i have to say the originals better! The next 2 tunes are not afx sorta music at all, Noise i like Noise, Speedranch & venetian snares or Janskynoise & speedranch but i listen to Afx for cool sorta casual beats and nice guy sounds! Tracks 2 and 3 are a waste of time the 3rd being the biggest waste of time! I've got everything this guy has relised all his vinyl, singles, albums, E.ps and complilations and this is almost worth throwing away.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great but not enough 2 July 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Hmmmm...The lead track here is a drill'n'bass (or whatever you wanna call it) remix of The Bug's Run the Place Red - who, incidentally, are worth checking out in their own right.
First time I heard it I was disappointed but after a few listens it became inexplicably great - especially the way the drums follow the ragga vocals. However, it always leaves me with the nagging feeling that this is the sort of thing that Mr. James could do in his sleep.
The other two tracks are 'noise' tracks. I quite liked them (the frequencies aren't nearly as harsh as some noise music I've heard) but I still didn't give them more than two or three listens.
Thing is, AFX fans will already own this and for everyone else it's just not worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this! 19 Sep 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Aphex Twin now trades on the completist tendencies of his fans. I can't believe I paid money for this - it is appalling. The first track is yet another over-paced tedious drill'n'bass effort, the other two could loosely be categorised as "noise", but so uninspired as to show utter contempt for noise as a musical genre and us as listeners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool 25 Jun 2003
Format:Audio CD
yes it's like the first one (2 remixs by afx) but only have one track out of tree songs, that you can lissen to, nearly like track 3 on 2 remixs by afx, but in a kind of cool way/ but kind of bad to.
The "one" track is well done, if your a fan like me, then you'll get it, and it dont cost that much anyway.....
