From the Author
Author surprised by own book . . .
I have been surprised, pleased, and moved by how many readers have had a personal -- and essentially non-political -- reaction to my book. They don't discuss (or argue with) the specific ideas in the book as much as they seem grateful that someone has given them an honest first draft of a future worth fighting for, an America worth living in, and a world worth passing on to another generation. From reader letters and personal contact, I'm learning that my hope for this country was not misplaced. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
