As vicar of Holy Trinity Barkingside, an Anglo-catholic Charismatic church in east London, I would heartily recomend this book to all my congregation and to anyone who shares our vision and values.
In this book Plass movingingly tells the story of Philip Illot - from his childhood struggling with the horrors of sexual abuse through to developing his relationship with God, a relationship that eventually sees him serving as a priest. Plass presents the challenging paradox of a man whom God uses to perform literally miraculous healings for others and yet has to struggle with his own brokeness (both emotional and physical) that God does not heal. Why are some prayers answered so dramatically, and other prayers left equally dramtically unanswered?
