For those who think of the sax as a jazz instrument, this album will come as a pleasant surprise. Amy Dickson produces a wonderfully pure and warm sound that I hadn't expected from the sax, and her choice of songs is spot on, from melancholic to upbeat, from Charlie Chaplin to Arvo Part, there's enough variety and wit to repay repeated listening. Recommended.
Brilliant. Amy and Catherine are exceptional. This is a mixture of popular and classical pieces to suit all tastes. If you want to hear something even better listen to Glass Tavener & Nyman (2009) by Amy
Amy Dickson has a fine technique and plays with a nice tone (So many don't) However, I feel that whilst I respect her choice of music, I feel nevertheless that she has 'Played for Safety' on this disc. I would like to have seen her stretch herself a bit more.
Only on the old Rudy Wiedoeft 'Warhorse' Valz Vanite does she give a glimpse of what her capabilities may be. A nice disc nevertheless.
