Product Description

Book Description

Another fresh and innovative investigation from Professor Potts - this time he's investigating the sound and science of recycling. Non-fiction with a twist!

Product Description

What self-respecting glass bottle would want to be trapped in a rubbish dump for hundreds of thousands of years, when it could be transformed over and over again into new and exciting containers? Luckily, the Smash Smash Truck is on hand to speed up the recycling process, making things go round faster.

Professor Potts takes us all the way back to the Big Bang to look at how the earth naturally recycles its resources and ends with a series of glorious smashes as a modern recycling truck is loaded and unloaded. This book is a celebration of recycling, filled with humour, science and Aidan Potts' distinctive, exciting illustrations.

This book will really help children to think about what is recycled and how it happens. They will see that recycling is a process that encompasses the whole planet! This is a fun book with fantastic pictures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smashing!, 20 Jan 2010

This review is from: Smash Smash Truck (Hardcover)
Brilliant, stylish, intelligent. Any 2- to 8-year-old (and their parents) enthralled by the socially approved crashing and smashing of glass as the municipal recycling lorry comes round will love this book. 'Professor' Potts is a real find - he has recycled conventional thoughts about recycling to make something energizing, creative and philosophically profound. (Private rant: And his book doesn't suffer from the kind of eco-depressivism that thinks it's OK to make young people feel sad about polar bears dying when all their understanding of causality and their power to change the world can't change the way they feel.) Read, enjoy, think, recycle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Putting the fun into recycling, 19 Jun 2009

I didn't imagine it was possible to be entertained by something as worthy as recycling, but apparently so. The "kapow" factor keeps kids interested, while they accidentally get an education on recycling, plus a bit of cosmic stuff too. Lovely.
