I've been using these for all kinds of things - wrapping presents, cutting up old credit cards, cracking walnuts, taking the tops of beer bottles - even pruning branches off the Christmas tree! They have a good heft to them, nice, grippy handles, and are finished well. They seem to stay sharp despite all this abuse, and I think they will last for many years to come. They might not be a named brand, but they have a quality feel similar to scissors I've used from Wilkinson Sword or Fiskars. Recommended!

It probably seems a bit ironic that you need a pair of scissors like the Smart Sizzors just to cut into the horrible packaging that they come in. It did take a while but since then the scissors have been in great use especially in the kitchen.
They are rather large so not ideal for most paper crafts so they have been kept for kitchen use. Apart from the multi functions such as bottle opener and nut cracker, a huge plus is they are dishwasher safe and unlike our old pair of scissors, the handles don't fill up with water. They have been used to cut up food but it's always important to make sure they are cleaned properly because of the bottom blade where food can get caught. They've given very good performance over the time we've had them but we do still have a separate pair for outdoors and a different set for cutting up paper etc so although they are multi-function, it doesn't rule out the need for others especially for health reasons.

After 10 minutes trying to open the plastic to get the scissors out we were left with what I feel are bit of a gimmik item. The scissors themselves are fine - they cut and it's nice to have a larger blade than my other kitchen scissors. The grip part is way too big for me to use these on a regular basis, they slip too easily which isn't ideal if I'm cutting meat etc.
My other half has used the bottle opener section and said that it's very fiddely to use and prefers to stick to the one we already had. Overall these are sturdy scissors but I don't think I'd recommend them as anything other than a novelty gift. And don't bother if you have small hands. EDIT: September 2010 Having used these in the kitchen now for 9 months I find them very uncomfortable to use. The handles are just too big for my female hands. Maybe they would be fine for a large handed chap but otherwise I wouldn't bother. I'm going to look out for a replacement.
