More About the Author

Margaret Henderson Smith BA(Hons) Cert.Ed. MBPsS

Margaret Henderson Smith gained a post-graduate Certificate in Education accredited by Liverpool University after reading for an honours degree with The Open University. Currently she is a graduate member of The British Psychological Society.
She started her career as a library assistant and after six years took a career break to bring up her children. Following this her career path took the intended change of direction to teach children of primary age in a Priority Area School. After a while she sought change and set up her own pre-school nursery, running it as a private business. Here she introduced her own entry-level reading scheme inspired by her studies in educational psychology. This proved a huge success and she understands her method is still being taught to great effect.
Later she expanded to establish a Care and Service Agency providing staff to meet the differing needs of a variety of people.
The legacy of such a career path is rich experience and latterly Margaret has translated it to fiction as she fulfils her long-time ambition to write. Currently her fourth novel in the 'Harriet' series, 'Amber' is work in progress. She also makes monthly contributions to her 'Big 40 Blog' and has just set up a book review site,'quicksandtimerbookreviews'. Whilst she is always pleased to make new aquaintances, she'd also love to catch up with some of the many people she's had the pleasure of meeting over the years. The ability to read and write at as early an age as possible is surely one of the greatest gifts that any young child can be taught. Margaret Henderson Smith's "Smart Read Easy" is designed to help in doing precisely that, and particularly for the pre-school child, while at the same time making it all "fun". Quite essential!

The book includes fifteen short stories, with invitations to colour in the black and white pictures, an alphabet book - A for Apple - how I remember that one, but this book has moved far away from simply parroting sounds and meanings.

It then moves on to Flashcards to be cut out and used - plus lots of blank pages for exercises and drawings, extensive new word lists, and full instructions and guides on how to get the best from the book, and your child.

The book allows and encourages the child to create his or her own first reading book, with stories, illustrations, and pictures to colour in, allowing the children to have loads of fun while making this book their very own, and thus, quite unique. Something indeed, they may wish to keep and treasure in the future.

The book has been developed through the writer's own hands-on experience working with, and teaching, young and pre-school children.

If you are looking to improve your child's reading and writing abilities, "Smart Read Easy" could be a very useful tool in doing precisely that.
