Book Description

30 April 2004
Undercover FBI agent Derek Knight has no idea what he's in for. His game plan for having a confidential witness leave an envelope for him in a Ford Taurus falls like a house of cards when the witness turns out to be colour blind, leaving the envelope in the wrong car. Reporter Reece Hampton really has no idea what she's in for - the red Taurus she's just hopped into is now the focal point of Knight's attention since it mistakenly contains the crucial evidential envelope. Driving like a bat of hell, Reece and Knight play a game of cat and mouse until he's finally able to pull her over at a deli parking lot - but all hell breaks loose when by-standers see the overzealous Knight confront the unsuspecting and clueless reporter. After the police are called in and finally get to the heart of the matter, Reece ducks out a back door and reads the contents in the envelope which contains information that could, quite possibly, propel her career from reporting local weddings to big stories in the big time. By the time Knight catches up with her, sparks fly, and both, needing each other's help to succeed, make a very sexy team who will not be beaten.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 5 Jun 2007
By Sian Louise VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book was brilliant - I read this whilst in the garden sunbathing at the weekend and finished it within the day.

The book tells us the story of Reese (journalist) and Derek (FBI agent) who meet under unusual circumstances, then stay together throughout the whole book. She is trying to get the story of the case Derek is working on, so she can sell the story to the best newspaper that offers her a job. He on the other hand thinks she's really annoying and gets in his way but he can't help the attraction he feels for her.

The sex pretty much happens straight away and if you do not like sex scenes in a book, I wouldn't reccommend reading this, but you like ur love story, hot and steamy then this is definately for you.

I will definately continue reading Erin McCarthys books.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good, funny read! 6 Jan 2007
By Noosh
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book tells the story of Reese and Derek. Reese has come the Chicago to be the journalist on scence at a minor celeb wedding. She arrives from New York after a ery long flight and all she wants to do is get to her hotel. As she walks to her car she locks eyes with the most beautiful double fudge chocolate eyes. Derek is an FBI agents waiting for his snitch when she sees the longest pair of legs and a fab body. Frustrated that he can't make contanct because he is waiting for infromation he calls his snitch, who tells him he has left the information in a Red ford rental car. Guess who is going to the rental. Derek therefore feels he needs to swap cars. Reese feels he's a lunatic and therefore pulls mace and stands on his toes, gets into the car and drives away. What follows is a funny chase and the realisation that Derek is the FBI agant he keeps telling her he is.

The story continues with Reese realising what is in the car and how this can help her boring journalistic career and Derek realising she can help in teh investigation. It also develops into some hot scence and the realisation that they both love each other....even though Derek feels he doesn't tell her in the most romantic way!

A really good, laugh out loud read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy!...witty!...funny!...hot!...cool!... 26 Mar 2012

What a glorious book and what wonderful writing. I am such a fool as I've been eyeing this book for ages but only now got round to buying it - my loss! This is a lovely, lively and funny (so many laugh out loud moments) story with an attractive, likeable pair of leads in Derek (Knight) and Reece. He's a world-weary FBI agent with boss problems and she is a journalist aiming for the top. Their paths cross by accident when Knight is attempting to pick up some incriminating evidence left by a source and Reece accidentally acquires it. Then the fun begins...

These two can't keep their minds or hands off each other but you really love them for it. Even when they are being responsible - like when they realise they don't have condoms they are still so, so sexy. The author has created such a very appealing, everything you could ever want, hero in Knight - ulcer, gammy leg and all. Reece in her quest for her story insinuates herself completely both into Knight's life and the case that Knight and his colleagues are working on. The actual case is kept bubbling along nicely sometimes in the background and when necessary at the centre of the story. All the secondary characters play their parts to perfection and everything ends, as it should. Knight and Reece get the HEA that they deserve and the reader wants for them. My only two complaints are that the story had to end and that the interesting issue between Knight's colleagues Maddock and White was not delved into further (will say no more you just *have* to read the book!) Methinks they need a book of their own - hint, hint Erin McCarthy.
