Smallville is a real heartwarmer in places and had action all the way through. grow up with Clark Kent through finding his powers and his love for Lana Lang. it has some real twists and unexpected moments, edge of your seat drama and a real tear jerker at times! i thoroughly enjoyed the first series and i am definately buying the second!

Continuing fan..., 18 Jan 2004
I was a great Superman fan as a kid, and bought the DC comics whenever my pocket money allowed. I wasn't good at maths at school, but I could do multiples of 9d so knew I could get two for 1/6, four for 3/- etc. This collection is so enjoyable - my second son watches them with me and my third son (who says he isn't bothered) creeps in and watches them also. Clark comes across as so free of guile - it's that well acted. Lex is at this stage friendly and open. Lana must be a native American Indian, but is also clearly a good person. Lex's dad is bad.If you've got a multi-region DVD, buy this one. It was sent from Canada and arrived in 3 days at minimal P&P. I wonder when the next series will be out on DVD. A bonus is you can switch to French soundtrack (and use English subtitles if you must). A grand and painless way to improve your French.

'small' ville, big personality! , 6 Jan 2007
I believe Smallville is the most realistic yet respectable adaption of the superman franchise, as clark kent has still taken on a heroic, larger than life approach to the role, with (for a T.V adaption) surprisingly well created stunts, painted to cinematic perfection with just the right quantity oF CGI to make the man of steel believable to an audience of great expectations.
But this T.V adaption (with the contribution of the cast and crew)has brought a new and deep aspect to the hero's life, a human element;clark is obviously not your home grown american teen (x-ray vision, bullet proof, unmatchable velocity etc) but smallville manages to balance throwing cars with day to day situations and the feelings every teenager inevitably possesses to reach adulthood, with the wonderful acting by Tom Wellin (clark kent), you can sypmathise with clark e.g. his craving motivation for the girl of his dreams, a social outcast and generally clashing with the many boundaries of teenage life.
Smallville cleverly reveals the powers clark is the bearer of, are a burden as well as a gift becouse clark sadly realises with power comes great responsibility, as astonishingly fun his powers would be to have in your possession, sometimes humans can tackle obstacles that even the man of steel cannot climb over, such the complicated concept of love.
As the seasons of smallville unfold, more high speed, high voltage special effects will erupt in the town of smalville, Kent's real identity will be on the edge of being discovered as curiosity manipulates even the best of his friends.
The series is complemented with an original soundtrack with meaningful songs (especially Life house-Everything), each melody contains inspirational lyrics with add depth to drama, also keeping action alive and compelling throughout the season.
This program is vital viewing for a 'super' die hard fan and even more essential for newcomers, It brought me into the science fiction phenomenom that is superman, in my opinion, the only difference between Tom Welling and Christopher Reeve, is that Welling doesn't wear blue tights!
Smallville is the most original version of the classic D.C legend, I real honour to the recently deceased Christopher Reeve...
