"'Welcome New Member of the Tartan Noir Pack' Val McDermid"

Product Description

The body of a prostitute is discovered in Glasgow's Queen Street Station, sparking a murder hunt that focuses on the city's seamier side. But when the body of a young nurse is found dead in a private clinic, with her corpse positioned in an identical way to that of the first victim, DCI Lorimer and psychologist, Solomon Brightman, must decide if this is the work of a serial killer. Once again, Gray takes the reader on a journey through the streets of Glasgow, this time weaving the very fabric of both the city with the wilds of the Scottish Outer Hebrides in her tale.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read, 27 May 2010

I have just discovered Alex Gray and am working my way through her Glasgow novels. They are a good read - not great, just good. If you are a Glaswegian like me you will enjoy reading about the various places Lorimer visits. As a crime writer, her books get better as you go through them. I'm a fan of Stuart McBride, Ian Rankin and Peter Robinson who, I think, are brilliant at their craft. Alex Gray is not in their league, but enjoyable nevertheless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice story, 12 Sep 2010

Hi
This is a nice story with some good characters and a reasonble plot. Slightly spoiled by the feeling I had that the author did not have good knowledge of some of the people who had disabilites that she was talking about....
The un-masking was a surprise (partly becasue I had forgotton who the perpetrator was....)
Note to authors - try and give all your main characters very different names so your busy readers do not muddle them !! .....
But overall, worth reading.
