Review

If you ever thoguht weaving was a craft you'd like to try, but beyond your price range, think again. With looms ranging form a comb taped to a board to a bicycle tyre to a rigid heddle loom, you can spend as much or as little as you like to statrt out. This book proveds a great, clear technique section, explaining how to use 4 different looms, followed by a wide range of funky projects including copper wire bracelets, neck-ties bags, and woven bookcovers. There's something for everyone, guaranteed. Weaving is the coolest craft - just remember - you read it here first! --ReadCraft, January, 2009

This brilliant book explores how to use small weaving looms to make super, useful projects. Five ways to weave are included in this practical guide with good photography and instructions. Find out how to make your own simple but effective loom. Discover pin weaving and much more. The projects are contemporary and include home decor and accessories. I really liked this book and will be making more use of my small loom as a result. I am also going to have a go at pin weaving. This book makes weaving more accessible to the home weaver who does not have room for a large loom. It shows the possibilities of this ancient craft. --karen platt reviews dot com

30 projects for home decor and fashion accents Yarn arts and felting are two of today's most popular crafts, and popularity for weaving, a natural extension of those crafts, is growing. Small hand-held looms and tabletop looms are now available at yarn shops and hobby/craft stores, and readers of "Small Loom and Freeform Weaving" can even construct looms themselves using common household materials. Most looms can be constructed in a couple minutes and can be reused numerous times. This book will also show readers how to use their looms. Included are 30 projects, some of which can easily be completed in an evening or weekend. Readers will enjoy step-by-step, diagrammed instructions for personal items, such as iPod and cell phone holders, scarves, purses, and jewelry, and home decor projects, such as pillows, table runners, wall hangings, and book covers. --infibeam dot com

This is an interesting book containing 30 projects and five ways to weave. I actually purchased the book for the information on weavette looms. But am amazed to find out what you can do with a comb. Even though the projects are intriguing they could stand a little better description.

I set up several rigid heddle looms for others but sort of bypassed them for myself. Yet I am still interested in patterns, and other people's projects. I do not think I will try Pin weaving but it was interesting to read about.

For the price you cannot go wrong by adding this book to your library and some new skills to your repertoire.

The cover and back are the best parts of the book. 11 Nov 2008

I repeat what another reviewer said: this book is NOT for beginners. Unless you know absolutely how to weave, do not waste your money because there are no pictorial directions and the directions/explanations fall woefully short of being helpful. A big dissapointment... The front and back covers are all that's inside, folks. I'll be returning this book. Originally I read the reviews and thought I would keep it no matter what, but now that I've seen it, no way.

OK but not impressive 4 Dec 2009
By D. Vozniak - Published on Amazon.com

The book is well illustrated, but the projects are nothing special. The longest portion of the book is spent on a specific brand of lap loom and the rest of the projects are kind of thrown in. I was disappointed and if I had seen the book beforehand, I would not have purchased it.

Not for beginners, but impressive anyway 4 Oct 2008
By Dale Ann Negen - Published on Amazon.com

This is a fun book for people who enjoy turning unusual things into looms. It's great for getting ideas for coming up with your own funky weaving projects. It's not really for beginners. Beautiful pictures and great for inspiring creativity.
