This isn't the first of this guy's books that I've read. I really like his style. These garden designs are good, and done by a theme, eg wildlife friendly, year-round colour etc. However, you can mix and match parts to suit what you want. He gives planting lists, but not pictures of all plants, which would be useful, but that's the only fault, which is minor.

poor illustrations 9 Jun 2010
By Dave H
Format:Hardcover
Although this book provides some useful themed garden ideas, the garden plans are obviously just that. They have never been constructed into real gardens. The book consists of a number of very, very, poor illustrations which could without doubt be much improved by my twelve year old daughter. This really lets the book down.In this day and age a great deal more is needed from a book such as this in terms of photographic illustration. The illustration in this book looks like some old books I have from the early 70's

very easy to follow sections

good basic information on planning a small garden

would recommend the book if plant knowledge and garden design is minimal.

An excellent guide and ideas base.
