Product Description

Platform: Xbox 360

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 will let players take the fight into their own hands with the debut of Superstar Fighting Styles. The game features eight unique styles, each having its own strategy and exclusive attributes. A brand new Struggle Submission System will give players intuitive and natural control over their WWE Superstars by using the game's popular analog controls. Realism and strategy are at the forefront, as players will now control the amount of pressure they apply to their opponents. In addition, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 will feature a significant Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) presence, including a variety of Superstars, arenas and weapons.

The game is also packed with significant updates requested by fans, including new rosters, more environmental hotspots, a combined Season and General Manager Mode experience, improved out-of-ring action, enhanced online community support and much more.

4.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD ADDITION. 2 Jan 2009
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I am a mediocre wrestling fan. However when i played this i was immediatly hooked. With the up to date graphics i wasn't disappointed. However, it did become very repetitive after a week of having it so i lost interest in it a bit.

Overall - Worth buying for a laugh with mates. I hope 2009 has more game types!

2.0 out of 5 stars What a waste of potential 24 Dec 2007
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I am a big fan of the smackdown franchise and have been for a long time, smackdown vs raw 2007 was an ace game for all the right reasons and with smackdown 2008 in my hands i thought its going to be the 2007 game with way more things to do, an even better title.....how wrong i was.

The game lacks and forgets to improove on a number of things that made the 2007 game what it was, such as:

1. When your ontop of the hell in a cell on 2008 there is an invisible field around the edge now so u cant accidentally fall off due to your mistakes. In 2007 it was nerve racking and tense being up on the cell wondering if u make 1 false move you will fall off and your down for the count.

2. They have not removed the ridiculous spam moves that online players constantly use and toaly ruin the experience, anybody who played frequently on the 2007 will know about the instant headbutt move that players would just spam onto you untill your red and pin you as this move was 99% effiecient and out of my year playing the game i think i managed to reverse it once, and among my friends im known for being the reversal king.

3. not only have they left the old spamming moves in such as the instant heabutt they have also added new ways that the online players can ruin the experience, such as the diving roll trait from a high flyer which can escape 99% of any tricky situations for them leaving you open again to be spam headbutted over and over.

4. The fragility of wrestlers on this game is pathetic my grandmother could take more of a beating than the wrestlers on this game, do 3 moves and your on red body status just about. now in comparison to smackdown 2007 that is truly feeble and this made the game boring rather than challenging.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fun, but seriously lacks depth 16 Oct 2007
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The Demo is available on X Box Live! Download it and try it for yourselves!!

I own this game and will give this 4 stars but that doesn't mean the game is flawless. The gimmick matches (Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber, Ladder Matches etc) are pretty much the same as previous years but now seem in desperate need of a overhaul.

GM mode is quite good but only if you turn injuries off - I had a roster of 15 and 9 were all out injured in the first month!! Unfortunately the season mode (24/7 mode) is probably the worst yet as you play the same story lines over and over and view the same cut scenes over and over and it gets very boring, but you can sim the entire season to unlock wrestlers etc.

The roster is a little thin (less charcters than last years game) but some of the playable characters are listed below:
(Batista, Hardy Boys, Undertaker, Kane, DX, Cena, Rey Mysterio, Chris Masters, Randy Orton, Carlito, Vince McMahon, Stone Cold, Bret Hart, Shane McMahon, The Rock, Mick Foley, JBL, Ric Flair, Mr. Kennedy)

Unfortunately there are lots of wrestlers missing that should have been included in the game (London, Kendrick, Balls, Cade, Murdoch, Hardcore Holly, Boogeyman, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Highlanders, Kevin Thorn to name a few)THQ have no excuses because some of these were in last years game!

New to this years game is the new fighting style system (brawler, hardcore, powerhouse etc) and you can now put people through flaming tables as well as having all 3 announce teams!!

The matches are as fun as ever but you will feel a little disappointed by the game's lack of depth (the ECW presence that is promised consits of Tommy Dreamer, CM Punk, Sabu, Terry Funk, Lashley, Sandman, Elijah Burke, Snitsky).

2.0 out of 5 stars Just not a great game 1 Jan 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Amazon Verified Purchase
Its that price for a reason, the year before and after are superior games. In story mode this one just doesn't know what is going on with your character and regularly gets confused over who has the title and what the result is in the last match. I got this game for £3.50 or so...to be fair it's not a waste of money, but the other games out there are so much better!

Try the orange box rather than this

4.0 out of 5 stars Worst game? Not quite, but close 24 Aug 2010
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I got this game as a christmas present when it came out, and having played the majority of wrestling games before this I was pumped, however, it isn't an amazing game.

If you're familiar with the controls of SvR 2007, then this is going to take a while to get used to, the controls have been changed and it is one of the things that has put me off the game.

Gameplay wise, it's almost the same as '07, except it has a better career/season mode and a better CAW.

The problems start with online, this is one of those games where you could easily lose to someone who just stomps you the entire time you're on the floor, even if you know how to reverse moves well this can get very annoying.

Overall, give this game a try if you're a hardcore WWE fan, but otherwise give it a miss if you're more of a casual gamer.
