A bit sluggish, but not bad.,

I watched this last night.Where would we be without the good ole Horror Channel? I really can't add much to the other reviews - they sum it up admirably. Suffice it to say that, if you enjoy a well made creature feature from the 80s, complete with actors straight from the Woodentops School of Acting, gory effects, and the Powers That Be refusing to admit that anything's wrong (Think Jaws, and a thousand others) then this is for you. I watched it expecting little, and got more than I expected!

SLUGS. B MOVIE SLIMER.,
This review is from: Slugs [DVD] (DVD)
I first saw this many years ago, back in the days when young people were innocent. There was no hoodies or drugs back then. But there were slugs. There may even have been killer slugs
Anyway, one day I went to my local video emporium and looked through the titles. SLUGS! Leaped out at me, not literally, slugs don't jump. I've always liked creature features and this looked OK. It's a surprisingly gory film about killer gastropods. The director Juan Piquer Simon had previously made the entertainingly trashy exploitation slasher film PIECES and the inept would-be kids film POD PEOPLE. Slugs, really isn't like either. Its basically a conventional and competently made low budget monster movie. The only thing that links it to older exploitation films is a very out of place and surprisingly nasty attempted assault. Take that and the gore out and it could be a TV movie. Years later I still like this film and this kind of film. Firstly, unlike big budget B movies, SLUGS isn't over two hours long, wasn't trumpeted as a masterpiece and didn't waste the budget of a small nation on marketing. James Cameron and Micheal Bay could learn a lesson from films like this B movie slimer. If you're going to make cliche filled glorified exploitation flicks. put more gore in, speed them up a bit and don't expect to be treated as artistes.
