Product Description

Part of the B-Movie Collection from Boulevard Entertainment, featuring 12 of the most kitsch and memorable B-Movie titles ever made. Collect all 12 single titles to reveal iconic spine art work. Ashton Estates is the ideal country community until, that is, the grim discovery of a mutilated body. For the Sheriff and the County Health Inspector the nasty trails of slime covering the surrounding area only add to their puzzled confusion. As the days go by, more horrific deaths take place, each one more repulsive than the last. They must discover the cause of these brutal murders before it's too late... Based on the novel by Shaun Hutson.

B-movie hilarity 8 Jun 2011

In a small rural town, bodies are being discovered that appear to have been stripped of their flesh. Mike Brady, the local health inspector is called in to help figure out what's happening. As usual in these films, his suggestion that it's man eating slugs is met with skepticism, that is until he contacts a slug expert and together they fight back.

The acting is rubbish in that fun b-movie way. The dialogue is incredibly cheesy, but it amuses rather than irritates. The movie was filmed partly in America, partly in Spain. Several of the cast members are Spanish, the problem being that they're playing Americans. The actors in question have been dubbed and it's really obvious, but I felt it added to the charm and absurdity of it all.

The deaths get slightly repetitive, but how many ways can slugs kill? The effects are reasonable, i particularly enjoyed a very graphic, over the top scene in a restaurant. 80's movies were great, they were allowed to be cheesy, campy, fun, not all that good, and the film makers knew it. They revel in the daftness.

Definitely for fans of movies like Basket Case, The Stuff, Return Of The Living Dead and Sleepaway Camp. As far as killer slug movies go, this is the best i've seen. Come to think of it, this may be the only one i've seen. It's not scary in the slightest, but it's undeniably fun. If you have a fondness of 80's fun, horror movies that are more funny than creepy, Slugs is a good way to spend 90 minutes.

As an allotment holder I was overjoyed to see these gastropods finally being revealed for what they are.KILLERS!This time around,it's not just Hostas and lettuce, they also crave human flesh.Stand out scenes? How about a Lloyd Grossman lookalike scientist who thinks he's hard driving a truck?A slug is chopped in half by this freak too..and you thought the animal carnage was bad in Cannibal Holocaust?Think again! There is also a great scene where this obnoxious 30 year old long-haired 'teen' and his lady are doing some lovin'..only to be devoured be the slimy fiends! This bit contains a fantastically pause worthy shot of the girls rump as she writhes around on the floor in da nude-erotic gore?I'm there!.Be sure to get this wonderfully cheap slice of nastiness-you can thank me in due course.Slugs [DVD] [1988]
