Product Description

From the Publisher
A great guide to slow cooking - with tasty recipes
Electric slow cookers offer many advantages. The food tastes better and doesn't burn or boil over. Tough cuts of meat become more tender, and you can cook delicious soups, stews and casseroles. And you save a lot of electricity.

This book has been designed for those who are buying (or thinking of buying) their first slow cooker, as well as for the expert. Now in its sixth printing, it has become the standard work on the subject.

The book contains over 100 recipes for tasty and nourishing dishes. Recipes include Soups, Meat, Poultry and Game, Fish, Vegetables, Puddings and Desserts, and much more. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars An informative, easy to understand, must have book, 26 April 2001
By A Customer
Having not used a slow cooker for many years and considering buying a newer, up-to-date version, I was searching for a book that would give me a better idea of what I could actually do with a slow cooker nowadays. I found this book to be very informative on the principles of slow cooking. It was also very easy to understand. The recipes were English based and therefore the ingredients etc were accessible to me and I found this to be a good stepping stone which would give me the confidence to be more adventurous in the future. A must have book for reference, ideas, and encouragement at a very affordable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book on slow cooking, 4 Nov 2001
By A Customer
I had been thinking about buying a slow cooker for some time, and having come across this book by accident, I found it useful firstly in choosing a cooker suitable for my needs.
The section on care of the cooker, preparation, and hints and tips are a worthwhile read before moving on to the recipies. The recipies are clear, varied, easy to follow and (so far!) have produced results that I have found excellent.
I would heartily recommend this book, especially to those, like me, who are new to slow cooking. The price makes it an indispensible addition to a new slow cooker. The depth of the recipies ensures that it waill also appeal to the more experienced.

I was given a slow cooker as a Christmas present this year. I got this book to give me a few ideas. It is well laid out with over a hundred easy recipes. There are plenty of helpful hints and tips to help you get started. Well worth the money.

An excellent introduction to slow cooking but just a trite outdated in view of recent research findings on high temperature cooking. A great way and healthier way of cooking.
