5.0 out of 5 stars Bloody Brilliant 7 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Set in the northwest of England, from the eighties up to the present date. The book is a tale of revenge against a family of ruthless gangsters, by a pair of brothers exacting revenge for the death of their sister in a suicide.
The book transcends from the eighties to the present time, detailing the hate and scorn the Bernsteins have for the mob and decide to avenge them for their sister death and for the gang rape, the group comitted, and were acquitted of in court.
Going forward to the present day, the families have grown up. The mob has created a vast empire dealing in drugs and weapons and show ruthlessness in dealing with outsiders.
But the Bernsteins decide to bring down this gang picking off each one of the group until they reach the ringleader subjecting the gang to confusion and abject terror, not knowing a vendetta against them was being exacted for a grudge twenty or so years ago.
The story is well told and is based around three characters. The detective Alec Ramsay who sticks like glue to the case of the murders. Ashwan Malik the ruthless gangster who is the enforcer for the gang and responsible for Sarah Bernsteins suicide. And Richard, Sarahs brother who was bullied by the gang in his youth, but decides to turn the tide on his former tormentors to get revenge.
If you like detective novels with a gangster theme, this should be up your street. The characters are believable and the story thought provoking. You just enjoy the turn of the tide as the gangsters are picked off one by one.
The novel is worth shelling out the pennies for. I loved it.
A deserved 10/10

5.0 out of 5 stars an edge of the seat thriller 28 Dec 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
An excellent read. A hard to put down tale of murder and revenge set in Liverpools underworld. The characters are really well drawn and the events of the book are all too believable. I read this in one sitting and will definately read the authors other books.I really cant criticize the book at all, and for just 86p you cant go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Avidreader. York 24 Jan 2011

What a splendid tale this is I enjoyed every moment of the reading experience. It would be easy to criticise on the basis of cliches, stereotypes and predictable story line. Notwithstanding I was hooked on it and cannot rate this book highly enough ..... get it today or you'll be sorry.

The writing is vivid and descriptive drawing the reader in making you feel part of the action!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book - totally believable 8 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So glad that I found Conrad Jones on the kindle store. This doesn't use the 'Tank' characters of the earlier books in the series but it's a great read, hard to put down. The storyline is totally believable, almost scarily so as it moves around NW England. The detail and information Jones gives only adds to the story.
If this is your first 'soft target' read, make sure you read the others. You will be hooked!
