There is detailed information on eating out and seeing the sights in all the major towns, and also plenty of info for people venturing out into the spectacular countryside, such as the Triglav National Park. If you are thinking of walking/hiking in the Park then I suggest you buy a book called 'Walking in the Julian Alps' published by Ciccerone, as the LP is a bit sketchy in this area.
I have found that guidebooks for other countries I have visited to be sometimes brief, or lacking full details. This guide, on the other hand, gives the reader a comprehensive introduction to the country, its history, culture and people, as well as describing the various attractions and locations with great accuracy.
I would recommend reading this book in the run up to your holiday, as well as during your holiday. Slovenia is a unique place that repays a little advance research handsomely.
In fact, after a few days I managed to lose the book. (Some swine picked it up in on a cable car near Lake Bohinj!). I didn't hesitate to phone up Lonely planet and find out where I could get a copy locally. The next day I drove to the capital Ljubljana to buy it once more and consequently rescue my holiday!
