Razorlight improving with each album, 20 Nov 2008

It seems to me that Razorlight continues to get better and better with each release. I hate to start some Beatles-esqe diatribe but these guys are talented and there isn't much else to say.
This disc falls into that rare category where more than 80% of the album doesn't disappoint.
Cheers gents and keep producing more genre-evolving music.

Still Razor sharp!, 11 Nov 2008

Quite a few British rock acts have returned this year with their third albums, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Bloc Party and Zutons spring immediately to mind.
Razorlight also return with their third album "Slipway fires" and I must say, I love it and think it is just as good as their million-selling eponymous sophomore disc.
The mood this time is more mellow and acoustic, from opening cut and lead-off single "Wire to wire" (which builds from a gentle intro to stadium-esque proportions), the jangly "Hostage of love" to the tender stripped piano ballad "The house" (sample lyrics "But every place this drink takes me to/Belongs to the house where my father died").
"60 Thompson" is subtle yet so catchy, reminding me of what fellow Brits The Coral would do (especially "Bill McCai"). Lead vocalist Johnny Borrell is renowned for his bloated ego and the more upbeat "North London trash" ("I've got a hot bodied girlfriend" boast the lyrics in parts) will no doubt arm his critics with more grist. Still, it is a great song. Other standouts include the sombre "Stinger", the gritty "Blood for wild blood" (all crashing symbols and inspired vocals), and the retro rocker "Monster boots".
Razorlight prove they are still as razor sharp as ever.

I was with high expectations and the Music simple went beyond of it.
The sound is great, the lyrics are awesome.
By far, since their first CD, Razorlight is my #1 band. I will see them in NYC and I am planning to fly to Mexico City to see them again.
