Slipware was once the predominant country" pottery of Europe. However, the Industrial Revolution almost brought about its demise and it is only in recent years that there has been a huge upsurge of interest in its techniques and an appreciation of its lively, vigorous qualities. These features now suit the current trend for using natural materials in interior design and slipware is coming to the fore as a pottery of choice. This is an informative book on slipware which not only traces its history and discusses the techniques involved but also covers a wide cross-section of contemporary work. It contains some traditional pieces but most of the artwork reflects contemporary work from an international group of artists."

Clive remembers being mesmerised watching the potters of Ewenny in South Wales, but it was drawing ability that took him to art school in his home town of Cardiff, to study painting rather than ceramics. Read the first page
This new book..has been thoroughly researched and inspirationally presented by the experienced and respected slipware potters Victoria and Michael Eden. Excellent illustrations, many in full colour, support an informative text written in a fluent and richly entertaining way. It is refreshing to discover this important area of ceramics offered anew with such warmth, sensitivity and conviction
This book was a pleasure to read. Not only does it discuss the history of Slipware but it looks at the work of a variety of contemporary artists. No similar book exists. I congratulate the authors on such a wonderful and enlightening read

This is a great resource book for serious, but fun-loving potters who want to enhance their technical knowledge of slipware technique. I found the variety of artists illustrations very helpful, even though I did not like all of their work. There was plenty here to learn from and have fun with at the same time. A good reference text.
