Book Description

"The only plan right now is to kill everybody" Joey Jordison, drummerIgnoring every rule in the book and more besides, Slipknot are a notoriously controversial band who combine a talent for outrage with their music. Reminiscent of the outlandishness of punk, 'nu metal' has become the fastest growing area in rock, with Slipknot selling over 2 million copies of their debut album. And yet Slipknot spit, swear and risk injury night after night in their extraordinary live performances. Incredibly, their apparel of masks and boiler suits, which they refuse to remove, means that their fans still do not know what they look like. Jason Arnopp, the first British journalist to interview Slipknot face to mask, describes the transformation of the Des Moines crew into unorthodox mega stars. Featuring an introduction by the legendary Gene Simmons of Kiss, this biography will be the first published on the band either in the UK or America and will include exclusive interviews and in-depth information on the mysterious nine masked men.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, but has its flaws 14 Oct. 2001
Format:Paperback
This is a good book, in fact it`s the best Slipknot book I`ve read. Jason Arnopp does a great job here: The book is well written and has a lot of in-depth info about how Slipknot started and how they developed into what they were ca. spring 2001. A little out-dated now since it does not cover the release of Iowa, but the background story is well worth the money and the effort. Arnopp draws a picture of a band how saves the metal world after the death of Nirvana and grunge in 1994, and how the Slipknot idea started in 1982 when Ozzy killed a bat in Des Moines. Slipknot is, according to Arnopp, the only band who has really made nu-metal huge after KoRn "invented" it. Not very objective perhaps, but the average reader of this book is a hard-core Knot fan. Another thing I missed while reading it was more info on the other members. The book is dominated by Joey, Shawn and partly Corey, and it is very obvious who Arnopp has interviewed. Lucky for us though, Joey is the "leader" of the band and he talks quite well. We pretty much get it all through his mind. Few pics means more info, and that is what you want. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Maggot Must Read 21 Nov. 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Having read a few of the Slipknot unofficial books now, my expectations weren't high for this one. How wrong I was! There are genuine interviews with band members here and anecdotes I had not previously heard as apposed to the same old recycled information. This is well worth a read, although could do with an update now.

5.0 out of 5 stars i would give this 10 stars... 7 July 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I am not a huge slipknot fan. Yes, I have their album 'Slipknot' and i wouldn't call that the greatest metal ever. But who knows what they are actually like? betneath the shells? ... However once I started reading it was like the slipknot i saw in my head as evil cow-killing nu-mettally freaks started to pull of their masks and shook my hand - that's how it felt anyway. the pictures, okay, maybe more perhaps. and it feel a bit short, like you didn't quite get everyhting about some of the 'knot's members younger days. Like but don't love slipknot? Jason Arnopp is the priest and in reading this book he's 'christened' you into the world of the knot. After reading this, you will have been converted. Praise the metal god.

4.0 out of 5 stars wicked book for the hardcore 'knot fan 2 July 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
i brought this bok as it was reviewed in a mag. if you are a starting maggot i would recommend other books that contain more basic information and less in- depth info. the only really bad point about this book is the pictures, like mentioned before they can all be found in keranng issues, anyway a excellent book for the hardcore maggot.
