Product Description

Product Description

The divine Shiraz Bailey Wood is back to enlighten us on the multi-layered, rich tapestry that is her life in Goodmayes Essex. Shiraz is astonished to discover that she has passed eight GCSE’s and is actually clever! Emboldened, she decides she can't waste her brain power on a job at ‘Mr Yolk’, the local greasy spoon. No, she’ll stay on at the Mayflower Sixth Form 'Centre of Excellence' and get even brainier. Best friend Carrie is of a like-mind and so, armed with text books and pencil cases, the intrepid pair set forth into the heady world of academia. Soon Shiraz is hanging out with other boffin types, amongst them the gorgeous Joshua, with the sharp cheekbones and the whopping allowance. But will Shiraz really dump the devoted Wesley Barrington Bains II for a smooth-talking lad with an Oxbridge future? Read SBW’s hilarious, heart-rending, irresistible diary to find out...

About the Author

With THREE bestselling novels in the past 12 months, Grace Dent is undeniably one of the hottest names in teen fiction right now. THE IBIZA DIARIES, the fourth of her novels about the loveable Shiraz BW is released on June 19th 2008 and is set to be one of the most vital, hilarious reads for Summer 2008. Put simply: right now, no other author nails how young people REALLY speak and behave like Grace Dent. It’s reached the point where SBW fans refuse to believe that the vivid Essex sensation is a fictional character! Messages and pleas for advice for Shiraz, Cava-Sue and the gang pour in day and night via Bebo and Myspace, MSN! Grace says: ‘I’ve cajoled kids who claim to have never read anything longer than a text message into reading three entire novels and nagging for the fourth. This makes me insanely proud.’
Grace is a comedy writer and broadcaster specialising in all aspects of ‘Pop Culture’. She is a presenter on The Culture Show on BBC2 and has recently interviewed Mitchell and Webb and the cast of Gavin and Stacey. She lives in East London with her husband, who works in the music industry. When she's not writing comedy Grace is to be found 'faffing about on the internet' or 'faffing about in the garden or kitchen' or 'just 'faffing about generally. I'm an excellent faffer.'

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as funny as the first, but still a great read!, 31 Aug 2007
The second book about Shiraz Bailey Wood is just as good as the first!
Shiraz and her best friend Carrie go to sixth form at Mayflower Accademy and so does (OMG!) Uma Brunton-Fletcher!
Shiraz has to make difficult choices and the ending is a real shocker!

5.0 out of 5 stars Slinging the bling, 11 Jan 2008

(REAL NAME)
Sequal of trainers and tiaras. Shiraz Bailey-Wood sets out for sixth form. She soon gets a shock from the headmaster as he asks her to do a 'increase the peace' group. This is where she really gets to no sixth form stud, Joshua. She has to make some tough decisions and decide if Josh is really the one for her. Does all work out ok for Shiraz?
