I purchased one of these scanners from Veho Direct in October 2009.
The concept is brilliant - essentially there's a simple digital camera inside, which photographs your film. It's fast and easy.
However, in my case, the scans were covered in specks. This isn't so noticeable on slides, where you get black specks but when scanning negatives, any dust marks show up as white marks and the results were useless.
After going to great lengths cleaning my negatives, I came to the conclusion that there was dirt inside the scanner as shipped. There is no way to get inside the scanner to clean out any dirt.
I contacted Veho Direct who accepted the unit was faulty, and refunded my purchase. Unfortunately they refused to refund my costs of returning the defective unit, leaving me considerably out of pocket.
I would not buy this type of product again, unless it was easy to clean the optics. And I would not buy from Veho Direct.
