5.0 out of 5 stars cracking good read, 11 Jun 2008
By Kate (england) - See all my reviews
This was a very funny book about a boy, Mikey, who has damaged his brain by leaping out of a tree into a paddling pool and smacking his head on the ground because he missed. Having been in a coma for 2 years he wakes up to find that he cannot fall asleep and medical opinion puts his life expectancy at around 2 or 3 weeks. Now you wouldn't think that this was something to laugh about but he then embarks on an adventure with a drug addicted teenager from next door that begins with a search for stolen property to a run in with a drug baron.Don't miss the slimmer of the year seedy night club owner with his heavy mob - the Aard Corp. And it is very funny, believe me. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkable debut novel, 23 Jun 2008
By Daniel B. J. Crayford - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
David Mitchell's `Black Swan Green' sideswipes `The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time', ricochets off Derek Robinson's `Goshawk Squadron', clips the wing mirror off George MacDonald Fraser's Harry Flashman series, and comes to a halt after t -bone-ing James Hamilton-Paterson's `Cooking with Fernet Branca'.
It starts to rain jokes.

Sion Scott Wilson's debut novel The Sleepwalker's Introduction to Flight' is terrific. A funny, wise, and satisfying read that rockets along with almost no let-up. The lightness of tone belies a tightly plotted little thriller that gets considerably darker (but funnier) as it reaches its unexpected climax.

If it's true that first novels tend toward autobiography, then Mr Scott-Wilson has certainly led a very interesting life.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, get this one...!, 13 Jun 2008
By T.M (UK) - See all my reviews
This is a wonderful book - an original, highly inventive and totally curious tale, told with great warmth and humour. Beautifully observed characters and wildly imaginative storyline, this book manages to be both laugh-out-loud funny and poignantly moving all at the same time - couldn't put it down, I highly recommend it to everyone who loves a great story...
