Book Description

The fourth and fifth exciting novels in New York Times bestselling author Karen Hawkins’s sparkling Scottish Regency series about two beautiful twin sisters who find romance with the sexy MacLean brothers.

In Sleepless in Scotland, Catriona Hurst learns that her sister Caitlyn is getting into trouble in her societal debut, and she rushes to London to rescue her bolder, younger twin. Discovering that Caitlyn has planned to force Laird Alexander MacLean into marrying her by stowing away in his coach, Triond sneaks inside MacLean’s coach to dissuade her sister. But Triond gets trapped inside when the coach takes off—and it’s not Alex MacLean who discovers her, but his brother Hugh. Distracted by the heat that burns fiercely between them, he doesn’t realize that he’s gotten the wrong sister until it’s too late...

A fun tale with involving characters but there were many flaws such as the very annoying chapter headings, the unlikely motivations, unbelievable relationships and holes in the plot.

Why would the heroine agree for a temporary marriage including sex, when her father is a clergyname and known to be strict? Would an old peasant woman who run a successful business, and acted a healer-midwife, really be on informal terms with the aristocracy who all seemed obsessed with their 'position' in society?

Definitely a book to borrow from the library, not one to buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars good story but ... 27 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Really enjoyed the storyline. Especially the rushed marriage or Triona would have been forever damaged and shunned. Hugh was very honourable but also very stupid, he realises this as you go through the book. I feel the book cold have been drawn out a bit more, especially near the end. I also feel there were unanswered questions and I was waiting for a certain horrible person to make an appearance in the story and have Triona deal with her, that part if the story line was left unfinished. You feel as such a big deal was made of it that it should addressed in the story. But I did like the story and have read the other story about the remaining sister.

Brilliant story - fun and energetic. The wonderfully resillient Triona teaches Hugh and his adopted daughters how to love and trust openly and without reservation. Having mistaken her identity and her having mistaken his a forced marriage is not exactly what either of them want...but it's what they're going to get. Though in my opinion Triona's grandmother steals the show with her wit and wisdom and will of iron.

All in all a great read, I strongly recommend this - I read it in a day - light hearted romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twin Capers! 6 Oct. 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
I loved this book, mistaken identities, scandal, a family curse and witty old scottish grandmother. This book is not lacking in charm. The dialogue and story line are fast paced and snappy. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters, and while being fantastically entertaining, the supporting characters did not detract from the hero or heroine.

All in all a great book - perfect for a rainy day and a nice cuppa!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not tip top. 8 Jan. 2013

Not my favourite of her works. Too many unanswered questions, Julia Quinn has spoiled me with her monologues. But will continue to read her.
