The Royal Ballet's Sleeping Beauty is a triumph, with Viviana Durante in spectacular form. This is classical ballet at its best, and she really shines, pulling off the rose adagio with regal grace. A true successor to Fonteyn and stunning in any performance, Durante is a delight to watch.

Viviana Durante is just fantastic, Solymosi is a handsome, virile partner, and Anthony Dowell is the wonderfully-realised villain. The television direction (BBC) is perfectly judged, and the costumes and sets stunning.

This is a must-buy for fans of classical ballet.

A stunning production, with lavish sets and costumes. The music is, of course, perfect, the highlight for me being Carabosse's music. The two leads are fine, but Anthony Dowell steals the show as Carabosse. She (he) is so fabulously wicked, you almost want to applaud her evilness. The only fault is that occasionally the action can be a bit stilted; I think more interesting things could have been done with some of the music. But overall an excellent production. I especially liked the Red riding hood sequence near the end.
