Cat is obviously outrageously promiscuous but well...let's be honest...you're reading it for the juicy details. And hey, if that's how she wants to live her life, who am I to judge? Like everyone else is saying though, this book definitely has some very erotic scenes that make you want to keep reading, but there's something missing. Sometimes I kind of felt like it wasn't going anywhere.

This being said, I thought the threesome/foursome scene was quite titillating, and the Viagra bit was indeed funny. I appreciate Ms. Townsend's honesty, and it was a 'fun read.'

I have to ask though, how the hell can she afford to live in London and live the lifestyle she does? It makes me think my chances of getting laid by rich and wealthy men would increase substantially if I moved across the pond. ;)

Catharine Townsend is an American in London, and she writes about sex for 'The Independent'. The book is much like you would expect, aiming to be a 'Sex in the City' type account of her sexual exploits, encounters with various men and her Bridget Jones style 'urban family.'

The book is OK, quite titillating in parts, but the main problem that I had with it is that Townsend doesn't come across as particularly likeable. I have real problems with someone who writes sentences like, 'I'm a steak tartar eating chick who is as ravenous a carnivore in the kitchen as in the bedroom.' (Puuurrleese!)

The endless references to shopping in Selfridges and having Hollywood waxes and manicures became particularly wearing.

There are plus points though...the chapter in which she experiments with Viagra was very amusing!

Although the book is a very good read, I did, at times, have to remind myself that this was a work of non fiction and not an account of some anonymous 'working girl', but, that of a journalist, whose whole life seems to be geared around her next orgasm, in her quest to find her perfect partner. She clearly is an intelligent women, which is why I fail to understand how she cannot work out the answer herself to her lack of success! To me, its glaringly obvious. Whilst she might be an amazing lay, up for anything on the first night, take the initative, type of modern girl, all this might be ok for a casual fling, but how many of those 70 odd conquests would actually consider her suitable wife/mother material and life long partner? Unfortunately, Cat, which seems rather apt, as she has the morals of an alley one, seems to be deluded by the idea that this behaviour will lead her to a happy ever after. I find it all rather sad, and think maybe a session with a therapist wouldn't go amiss to delve deep in her sub conscience to establish why she behaves like a nympho on heat in the first place.
