I have never read any books by Julie Highmore but I will certainly read more. This was such a refreshing read, in comparison to the usual chick-lit out there (which I do read and do enjoy also).
The story is probably a bit far fetched but the characters thoroughly likeable, particularly Jo, the lead character, and her relationship with her live-in students.
This book comes highly recommended.

Marcus is married to Hannah but they are separated. Hannah now lives with Robin who is the father of Freddie. Hannah is still in love with Marcus and Marcus is still in love with Hannah. Or is he?

Hannah is in Oxford, Marcus in Scotland but then house sits for Lucy and Dom in Oxford and then France. Jo lives opposite Lucy and Dom who are also friends of Robin and Hannah and Jo meets Marcus and Marcus meets Jo. Marcus also meets Pippa and Ray from down the road who also know Lucy and Dom and Hannah and Robin. Pippa meets Bram who knows Jo.

Marcus goes to France on his own and meets Claude who meets Keiko, Jo's lodger when she comes to France following Marcus. Bumping into them is Hannah and Freddie at Lucy and Dom's virtually derelict house. Robin turns up and they all go back to England.

And so it goes on.....

A rather weak offering from Julie Highmore compared to past novels. A pleasant sojourn into the lives and minds of some interesting characters that could have done with some more fleshing out. Hannah the character who is seemingly crumbling in front of our eyes was good and I think a lot more could have been made from her and her relationship problems she was having.
