For those of you who were lucky enough to stay up late in the 1980s and watch terrestrial showings of Sledge or perhaps caught it in the early years of Paramount, no introduction is required. A sly mix of cop show parody (similar but in my opinion superior to the Naked Gun), SledgeHammer! mixed strangely British humour, sly digs at American politics and cop shows with pastiches of famous movies. And the stories were not bad either! Deadpan delivery from the stars, and some great one-liners show how smart this series was. As it has not been seen for some years on UK TV now's your chance to catch up. The creator Alan Spencer even removed the dire laughter track so its 100% pure Sledge. Here's to Season 2 on DVD. You know it makes sense.

I first saw this program when doped up on pain killers & not sleeping due to a trapped nerve. My first thought was that either this was seriously funny, or I was seriously sick!!
Fortunately it was the former, although I'm still not sure about the latter. This is without a doubt one of he funniest shows to come out of the states in the last twenty years.
Lampooning of the traditional cop genre, fast visual gags, brilliant one liners, catoon violence and take offs of highly regarded films such as the Harrison Ford classic 'Witness' (Sledge's take being 'Witless') makes for some higly entertaining viewing. I've just finished watching the entire series with my son, and he wants to start them all over again!
I've not seen any of the features yet, however the overall package is fantastic, with notes that had me smiling like a loon from the minute I recieved the set until I got home & got Disc 1 into the player.
Come on Anchor Bay, Series 1 is fantastic now get series 2 out.

Sledge is at last coming to PAL. I have the region 1 release and have been desperately awaiting a release that wasnt NTSC. This is a great boxed set with some great extras, including a new making of with new interviews with the cast and creator Alan Spencer, Spencer also does commentary on 4 Eps, and they are among the best you will hear on any DVD I assure you. 22 episodes and all the extras at the Amazon price is an absolute steal. Buy them up now and then prepare for the Season 2 release.

I love this series and would recommend it to anyone :) If you like comedy this is a must buy! They don't make them like this anymore :(

Not as funny as I remembered
