With the kooky misadventures of volume 3 behind them, the plot takes a more serious turn as the Slayers are finally within reach of the famed Claire Bible. However, some powerful new foes have entered the fray. The powerful servant of the mighty lord Shabranigdo, Gaav - the demon dragon king and one of the most powerful evil lords - Fabrezo. With our heroes forces dwindling under the immense power of their foes, Lina has the tough decision of whether to use the powerful, yet extremely dangerous Giga Slave spell. In an epic showdown, Lina must choose between her friends and the safety of the world.
Despite the animation of the series showing it's age at times, the final episodes of Slayers NEXT are animated beautifully, with some epic explosions and nice artwork boasting the capabilities of traditional hand drawn animating. With the trademark humour comes some signs of romance in volume 4, making this one satisfying and memorable finale. However, as can be expected, after the smoke has shifted and the enemies are beat, Slayers still proves to be a series that rarely takes itself seriously, and thats one of the main appeals of it.
The final 6 episodes of Slayers NEXT are contained on this disc. These are:
21.The thousand year old truth! The traiterous demon dragon king!
22.The stolen sword of light! The end of the demon dragon king!
23.The menacing swordsman! A journey of reunion!
24.Sinister trap! The mysterious city of ghosts!
25.The souls of the dead! Lina's final decision!
26.Go to NEXT! And then again...
After watching this final volume of Slayers NEXT, I can happily reach the conclusion that tit is better than the first series. With a better story, funnier comic relief and some great magical action, Slayers NEXT is a truly awesome series. Now lets just hope Slayers TRY follows suit.
