5.0 out of 5 stars How to out-Dissection 'Dissection'! 3 April 2005
Format:Audio CD
If you are a big fan of either of Dissection's classic albums 'The Somberlain' or 'Storm of the Light's Bane'. If you live for At the Gates' 'Terminal Spirit Disease, and get goosebumps from the thought of incredible Scandinavian extreme but non-cheesily melodic (Dawn are no 'In Flames')blackened death metal, then 'Slaughtersun: Crown of the Triarchy' is a must, I repeat MUST own album. With the unsurpassed 'The Knell and the World' the albums highlight, closely followed by the majestic 'Falcula' and not a bad song at all, I rate this in my top 10 extreme metal albums of all time. Seriously. The music business has been unkind to this release, which should have outsold many weaker contemporaries. BUY BUY BUY.

5.0 out of 5 stars classic black metal masterpiece! 5 Mar 2007
Format:Audio CD
i must agree with the other persons review - this a fantastic example of how a black metal album should sound. it rates in my top ten extreme metal albums ever - dissection on speed, the guitar work sounds so classical its like listening to violins - truly amazing , production is excellent and the musicianship to die for!

4.0 out of 5 stars bleak apocalyptic black metal 4 April 2000
By Dennis (Poopstain) Brewster Jones - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
These guys are an amazing collection of musicians that have put out one of the very best black metal releases of 1998. If Sweden is ever to catch up to Norway in the realm of black metal it will be lead by bands like Dawn and Naglfar. Jocke Peterson is one of a handful of humans on this planet that can match the hypersonic pace on the drums with the mighty Hellhammer of Mayhem, Arcturus, and that 'other' band.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Black Metal 2 Feb 2002
By "wwwwwwwwwwww" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I just simply love this album, one of the best Black Metal albums I have heard so far. I just love the drums and the guitars on this cd! The vocals are typical Black Metal vocals and they work fine. Recommended even if you don't normally like Black Metal.

5.0 out of 5 stars dawn of the apocalypse 6 July 2003
By mraraya - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
this cd is down right B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L asn brutal at the same time, not an easy task for some bands, but this band is the exception.dawn is one of those rare bands that confuse you if you want to bang your head, kill, or cry the riffs are truly that powerful and moving and still maintain the heaviness that a true black metal band can bash out.buy this and i garauntee youll love it start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece 10 April 2003
By "eyesland" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I do like the first Dawn record better, but this is a truly underrated album, and one that is trying to progress the extreme metal genre, which has become nothing but stagnant copies in the last 10 years.
Dawn is supposedly finally recording a new album this summer, I can't believe it's been 5 years since Slaughtersun was released.
I highly recommend this and all other Dawn albums
