Product Description

Product Description

Slattern is Kate Clanchy's first book which won the Forward Prize and was highly acclaimed on publication in 1995. As publishers of her second collection Samarkand it would be good to have both books on the Picador list. This collection was described by Carol Ann Duffy as 'memorable', by the TLS as 'elegant and rich in wry observation.' Clanchy has a committed following and she is also a journalist who appears regularly in the Guardian and the TLS.

About the Author

Kate Clanchy was born in Glasgow in 1965 and educated in Edinburgh and Oxford Slattern won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and Samarkand was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection. She lives in Oxford with her husband and son.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sylvia Plath only much less depressing, 5 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Slattern (Paperback)
I went to listen to a reading by Kate Clanchy last night. She read a lot from this book & I was blown away by the poetry. I esecially like the love pems at the end of the book. There is a sence of gritty realism beside her romantic imagery that makes the writing quite special.

5.0 out of 5 stars they don't rhyme, 28 Nov 2001
This review is from: Slattern (Paperback)
I purchased this volume recently,on the recommendation of some friends. I wish I hadn't. Clanchy shows a remarkable inability to rhyme her endings or count her syllables. Anyone would think she wasn't trying to!
