Biography

One of Britain’s most popular and enduring bands, Slade exuded pure unadulterated fun. Lauded by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Alice Cooper and Ritchie Blackmore among other luminaries, they’ve been described as “the missing link between the Beatles and Oasis” – the latter, of course, having covered Cum On Feel The Noize and Merry Xmas ... From the start of Hear Me Callin` to the head shattering Born To Be Wild, this is a classic rock album from a band that could really blow you away. Twenty years on they could still play it very, very loud, but this album is something special.
Slade mighht be no more, but they influenced a whole generation, making the 70`s something great. No one will ever top Noddy, no bass player quite like Jim Lea, and the powerhouse of Dave Hill and Don Powell will never be forgotten.
Play this as loud as you can, and you will be very, very happy!

I had this record on vinyl years ago, and it was the archetypal "live" album. When it got scratched I simply bought another copy !!. Now that I have the CD, I can put it in my car and play it as loud as possible.
Check out the "BTBW" track and the Slade orginials. As a slade fan of 20years, this album has only been beaten by one other slade album - alive 2 !!

Like other reviewers I had this as an LP aeons ago (with superb gatefold sleeve). This CD showcases a great ballsy performance from Wolverhampton's finest with gravel voiced Noddy in great form - check out GDAGWI for real bootstompin' atmosphere. Cast aside any "glam" prejudices - this band could rock with the best and were streets ahead of the competition at the time. PLAY IT LOUD (Another great Slade CD).
