Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure - Adventure Pack

It's difficult finding details on what these packs do and if they're worth it. They certainly are for Activision giving access to content already on the disk and limiting releases of certain collectable figures.

Politics of the game aside (it was always clear Skylanders was about "the hook"), what does the pack offer?

First of all the slightly oversized Crypt model. This unlocks a new level from the Skylander's hub world. It's roughly the same size as all the other standard game levels, so around 20 minutes play with your child, going through all the nooks and crannies to get al the collectables. There's no download at all, it's simply an unlock of a gate in the hub world, you put the Crypt on the portal and it's open.

Next there are two small "power ups". In this case an elaborate egg timer and a potion bottle. The egg timer slows down the action on screen for a short while. The Potion gives you a minute where your health slowly regenerates. Both can be used on ANY level but only once each time you play it.

Finally there's the extra playable character, which currently is only available through this pack. The character is worth around £7 and like most of the characters is much of a muchness.

So you're paying £11 for a couple of powerups and an extra 20 minutes of gameplay. If you're a completest then I guess you have to get the pack. If you're desperate for an "undead" Skylander (as we were), then again it's possibly worth it (certainly better than paying over the odds that some people are charging for "rare" characters).

I think the game is fine for kids and the toys are detailed and well made. They're very sturdy and wont break when little fingers drop them onto the floor. Value is very difficult to ascertain. Essentially it's poor value, but if you 'need' the character/levels for personal satisfaction (or your kids do), then you're getting it (though personally I still think it's poor value).

The concept is great, the technology is super, being able to take any of the characters to play on any platform/console, this alone is a rarity. The selection of little in game characters is great and I have seen other reviews passing comment about " you have to fork out £££ for all the characters to be able to enjoy completely" which is incorrect, as you only need one character from each element to enjoy the whole game, that said we are going for the full collection, £6.99 for an individual character to me isn't that much at all considering the tec involved. And I can think of worst things to spend £7 on!!

The gameplay is smooth, fun and easy to play, the story is full of fun characters with some real funny dialogue and it's a nice change considering the very few games available that do not involve chopping up zombies or shooting terrorist..

A must buy.

Are you looking for a great addition to your skylanders game? Well then look no further, the level included in this set is up there with my top 5 levels for sure, and the character included (Ghost Roaster) is one of the strongest out of the box at level one and only gets stronger, he's up there with the tough guys like sonic boom, his damage is high and hits the same damage as bash only he is much faster and has a little less armour, his haunt ability also allows you to gather an army of ghosts to do the fighting while you wait behind, also he has full immunity whilst using his skull attacks, which is the most effective levelling path to take, so if your looking for a great level and tough character, this is the pack for you, my only complains are the items are pointless and I am yet to use either of them
