Very well made, with a heavy cable connecting head and control unit. leather bag has a divider so the head and control do not rub each other in storage - a nice touch.
In ETTL mode, camera and unit communicate well, with the camera showing any flash compensation and the control unit showing selected camera aperture. Note: be sure to clear any camera 'external flash settings' or the unit and camera will be fighting each other, with one trying to set say, a + compensation and the other something different.
One one test, I had the camera set to manual, 250th. sec. and varied the aperture from one extreme to the other while taking a macro shot of the same object. Except for the depth of field, the results were virtually identical, well exposed.
The selected adapter ring stores on the head unit with the thread protected on the inside.
The light output can be varied from 1-8 on either side, both on, or only one side on.
You can use strobe mode, with a long exposure and up to 199 flashes, or take three shots in succession with minus, normal and positive compensation.
Has a built in 'headlight' for focusing in the dark.
In short, best flash I've come across at this price.

When I ordered this, the estimated delivery date was a long time in the future but as it was coming from China, I wasn't too worried. It did arrive with the predicted dates and was well worth the wait.
It's a proper flash gun (not a set of LEDs) and it is very flexible in both the amount of light it produces and which side of the ring it comes from. By taking pictures and assessing the exposure on the flash, I was quickly able to get the image i was after,

I was pleasantly surprised to find a strobe function on the flash, allowing multiple flashes during a long exposure. The manual, generally good, didn't explain in depth so I had to play around to get it to function. As I'm not sure what I'll use it for, I'm not too worried as it does work.

The best thing so far was to be able to set aperture to f45 and keep the shutter at 125th so I could get an enormous depth of field on macro shots without using a tripod. I also was able to do this holding the flash unit off to on side and so create shadows where I wanted them

Great for macro and probably great as a general purpose flash.

I've been holding off writing this review until I had had a really good play with this flash.

The main bad point comes from the cheap plastic adapter rings. They are cheap plastic, which I can see breaking very quickly if not careful, but more importantly the flash head doesn't hold tight to any of them. This means the head is free to rotate 360 degrees around the lens - as I'm only using it with one lens then a bit of blue tack works a treat. Another minor down side is the slightly longer re-charge time when on full power - which for me is practically never so it's a very minor problem.

This flash has practically all the functionality of the much more expensive Canon and Sigma ring flashes I've played with in the past. It's much much cheaper and worth every penny. The flash is bright and works consistently and well (unlike the sigma flash I have). The focusing lights are a nice touch but if I'm honest my camera always focuses wide open and stops down to take the pic so light isn't as much of an issue then.

The TTL works great, but again, I hardly use it so I have greater control. For the price of the flash TTL is a great addition. The manual mode has great control over the individual flashes, allowing for great creative control.

I highly recommend this flash for anyone who can't afford the Canon and for people who don't like or want LED flashes.

Took a few weeks to arrive but very impressed with the build quality, comes with various rings for different lens and with a quick release mechanism to remove it from the lens which saves unscrewing it from the lens all in one.

Works very well in ttl mode right out of the box without setting up, and has various modes and power levels for when you gain experience with it, a very good buy for the fraction of the cost of the canon macro flash buy with confidence its worth every penny.

Was looking for a macro kit, and after a fair bit of searching settled on this one. Have got to say that am impressed. Great price, more functions than I need/ could use and overall what feels like a solid build quality. Am giving it 4 and not 5 stars as it took a long time to arrive, but wasn't in a rush so not a massive deal. Definitely recommend this item.

I bought this in April 2013 on Amazon for £99, supplied by DSLRKIT and initially I thought it seemed to be a solid piece of equipment. I only used it a couple of times to take macro shots of flowers and when I tried to use it again earlier this year (after warranty expired) everything seemed to be functioning OK but the flash itself wouldn't fire. Looking through the other reviews, I see some other customers have also had the same problem as me; stops working after a few months. I've emailed the manufacturer in Hong Kong for advice but so far there's been no response. Consequently, I would not recommend this unit.

works very well with the Macro lens brought. and can add some close by whacky off camera flash. good sync with the canon 5d mkiii and why pay the ridiculous prices for the canon alternative.

Having already purchased a LED flash which I was disappointed in I decided to purchase this one. It arrived the next day on Prime (thumbs up for Prime!). It comes in a nice compact case which keeps the lens rings, the flash and control unit separate so they do not knock or scratch each other.
Attaching the flash to a lens is simple enough using the correct ring that is provided. You can control the left and right hand side of the flash independently. It has also got 2 LEDs which can be used to light up the subject you want to focus on, would’ve been great if these were brighter.
Compared to my LED flash this wins hands down, I have got more control and the intensity of the flash is so much better. For this price you cannot go wrong with it.

Good piece of kit for macro work with plenty of useful features like side flash for effect.
Best value for amateur use if you want to try macro flash without busting the bank....

Easy to use & came with lots of lens adapter rings. Results are very good, not as robust as Canon flashguns but at a third of the price not an issue
