I bought this as a gift for a nephew who has an interest in ghosts, skeletons and the like. I wondered whether visual images of skulls, constructed and designed out of everyday items by the author, would hold one's interest for long. However, upon seeing the book myself, it vastly exceeds expectations. There are skulls made of paper, of roadworks, of spaghetti, of metal wire, of video tape, wax, cork...the list in endless. Also included are some 'virtual' skulls using computer imagary, such as a flock of birds in a skull formation.

This is one of the cleverest books I've come across, and the images manage to combine artistic merit with humour, accompanied by brief text.

Clearly a lot of skill has gone into crafting a year's worth of skulls, but it is also very impressive how entertaining they are in the format of a well-designed book.

As I write, this gift is for a Christmas present, and I'm really looking forward to the reaction. I'm sure everyone will be queuing up to join in the fun and take a look at this fascinating and inspired project.
