5.0 out of 5 stars iggy pop finds fountain of youth!!!!!!!!!!! 12 Oct 2003
Format:Audio CD
FANTASTIC!!!Don't really know why it's taken iggy so long to make an album that is this good,it's like all your favourite bits of iggy, the stooges and all your favourite bands all put together, absolutely superb.his solo work over the last few albums has been patchy at best, american caesar being about the best, this blows them all out of the water, buy this album now, satisfaction is guaranteed!!!!!!IGGY ROCKS!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars SUPERB ALBUM 17 April 2013
Format:Audio CD
This is a first class Iggy album which sees him re-united with the Stooges on some of the tracks.

The sound is spacious, edgy and his vocals are strong throughout.

What gives this the edge over other albums like 'Shoot 'Em Up' is the strength of the compositions - great song writing making this consistently punchy throughout.

3.0 out of 5 stars Godfather, blah blah etcetera 10 Nov 2006
Format:Audio CD
More appropriately titled `Iggy & Friends', `Skull Ring' is riddled with many renowned artists of yesterday and today. After a good 30 years of dormancy, The Stooges return to kick out some mean stuff, and are surprisingly still rather good, The Trolls also make an appearance for a good 6 tracks and peculiar partnerships with Green Day and Peaches make the other meatier tracks. Even young kids Sum 41 somehow end up making noise with the scarred man himself. How? Who knows?

The most startling point of this release is the fact the guest appearances don't really seem to be guests - they influence the songs to such a degree, it's as if Pop is being given a big helping hand with the writing. The two Green Day collaborations titled `Private Hell' and `Supermarket' are great examples, as they could well be the leftovers from the albums `Nimrod' and `Insomniac'. So the release as a whole is multi-textured, but tracks are badly gelled as a result. Somehow, it's impossible to see The Stooges play songs that Peaches was on...

In the past, when he was left to his own devices, Iggy had made some disgusting stuff and it seems he still does when given half the chance. Somewhere along the line, old time blues has infected him, so the lone guitar, foot-tapping-floorboards blues song `Til Wrong Feels Right' has been created but will never, ever "feel right".

With more hooks than the tacky previous album `Beat `em Up', Iggy seems at home with the grittier guitar-based songs and is an improvement. There is enough here to be pleased with. It's definitely a trait of this legend to be terribly hit and miss, but when he does hit the target, it's fucking amazing.

4.0 out of 5 stars iggy's return nearly perfect 2 Oct 2003
Format:Audio CD
very good return for Iggy Pop,probably his best album since 1993's AMERICAN CAESAR.
as usual it's not a perfect album but surely this is his force and not only his weak as an artist
I really love him...I'm afraid that his attempt for a new sound and attitude tried in AVENUE B Album has been aborted
Best tracks the collaboration with STOOGES,GREEN DAY and the first single with SUM 41

5.0 out of 5 stars Iggy Pop still powerful and young 3 Oct 2003
Format:Audio CD
I never expert Iggy Pop will cool, but when i listen his new album Skull Ring, I think he is still have Powerful and energy.
In this album he used the old mate, such as The Stogges and the new kids(Green day, Sum 41, Peaches)
This album let me know Iggy Pop still get the trend.
Such as Rock Show, he do the disco punk, the music like Electric Six, but better than them.
Privaite Lell and Little know it all, co-operate with Green Day and Sum 41, still let me know he still have energy and Punk.
And Motor Inn let me relate Bowie.
it is great album, don't miss it.
