About the Author

On good days, Stella Blackstone lives east of the sun and west of the moon. On less good days, she lives at the bottom of a well. She finds ideas in all of these places and turns them into songs, poems and rhymes. She has read and written poetry for as long as she can remember, and her favourite books include Louis Untermeyer?s A Child's Treasury of Poetry, which was a constant companion throughout her childhood, Paolo Coelho's The Alchemist, everything by T.S. Eliot, and William Buck's translation of The Ramayana. She lives in southwest England, and enjoys walking and working in her garden as well as doing nothing whenever she has the chance. Maria Carluccio has studied art all over the world, and has also taught drawing and illustration at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. She comes from a creative background: her mother was an artist, producing paintings and ceramics, while her father was a lawyer and writer. Maria takes her inspiration from everything around her, from the knick-knacks she collects in flea markets to scraps of paper she finds on the streets.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good to borrow but not to buy 9 July 2010
By Ej
Format:Paperback
This is a lovely book in the sense that each page has a lovely illustration of the month and season. The version we have is a really durable board book too. However I was disappointed that there was no story to the book. Each page has a short line of text and then the words "What can you see? ", followed by 12 words of objects at the bottom of the page for your child to spot. You could effectively do this with any picture in any book though, asking your child if they can spot the objects. In that respect I wouldn't recommend it to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent book from 'barefoot books' 28 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
What a lovely 'hide and seek' book. This book takes you through all of the seasons with many things to spot on each page. 'Jump into January - and dance into December'. The illustrations are lovely. I also like this book as it would last a few years as the end of the book is full of facts about the seasons such as - where the names of the months came from, information about calendars and the days of the week. An excellent buy!

The book has great illustrations, allowing children to discuss the scenes whilst learning about the seasons. Excellent for preschool age children.
