My daughter has become more and more interested in skipping, so i wanted to get her a good skipping rope, not the fancy looking one with one of the characters but that is rubbish basically or a cheap one, the poundland type where the rope is too light and tangles easily making the child frustrated where they can't understand that it is the rope's fault if they fall out of rhythm, not theirs! So i started my hunt, and after carefully looking at pictures of this one and its reviews i decided to buy it.
My daughter could skip already fairly well, not a beginner basically but not a professional either. She liked the rope although it took a little practice to catch the rhythm as it has a bit of weight to it so make for faster skipping, she had to slow just a bit down.
The rope itself i think is great quality and the type i used to have as a child some 20 years ago. The rope itself is light blue plastic tube with plastic handles if your choice. the rope freely rotates inside the handles so it is not glued/fixed to them. Lengthwise i thought it was just right, although i think my daughter would have managed just fine with a 2.4m one. she is just a few months shy of 6 and is in cothes 6-7 or 7-8 at the moment to give you idea of height.
The only thing i would point out is make sure your child does not skip barefoot or in socks, but wears some kind of footwear as if they are just starting to learn, it can be quite painful the rope hits your toes when they fall out of rhythm.
