Format:DVD
After wanting it on DVD for ages I was at first sightly confused when I watched the first episode...something was a miss but I couldn't put my finger on it. I thought the music was different but I doubted they could have sold the whole series to the public without declaring that this WAS NOT the series as seen on channel 4 and 4OD. The thing that makes Skins so addictive is it's incredible soundtrack! Then in Episode 2 when Cassie is tripping at college and walking her fingers along the handrail...WHERE WAS SHUGGIE OTIS?!
It appears that they couldn't afford the rights to all the music for the DVD release, possibly because of how much it must cost to have it available to watch anytime on 4 OD. I think anyone considering buying this would be better off just watching on 4OD as the boxset your getting isn't the full experience. The music accents the scenes of sadness - Like when Sid and Michelle are dancing to Massive Attack and Tony cuts in. It makes the series more believable because the music is something REAL people listen to. Replacing it with cheap sounding 'background' music, making the series feel more like a daytime tv show. It really looses something without the music and I feel sorely cheated.

I'm to lazy to write four reviews so I'm giving this five stars even though not all series deserve it IMO...
I love the first generation (the second series is by far the best of all four). There isn't one character that I don't care about, even if Chris, Cassie and Sid are my favourites I still find the others intresting and they all have a place. I also like the group feeling of them all.
The second generation on the other hand have some problems. The writing isn't bad, but not as good and there are some characters I can live without. Take Cook for example. I've seen Jack O'Connell act before and he's great (probably the best actor in the second generation) BUT Cook is annoying. Unlike Chris who was a bit crazy and party mad too, Cook isn't funny or likable in any way. Which is sad beacuse I like Jack. I find Pandora and Naomi to be the most intresting and in all, the girls are a lot better than the boys in this generation. The group feeling is completly gone... It doesn't feel like anyone really cares for their so called friends.
So I give this five for the first two series, though the third and fourth problaby deserve a three and a half and thats mostly for the girls.

The program itself is amazing! But while i was watching the dvds, i noticed the sound quality wasn't all that great, it would go high then low, although it was bearable it was very annoying to listen to! But apart from that the viewing quality is perfect!

excellent boxset
excellent price. boxset is exactly as listed. have completed first series of Skins and loved it! great stories, fascinating characters and very worthy extras! will be a fun ride!

Skins is a wonderful TV-show that takes up important issues in a very clever way. I would recommend it to everyone, it's brilliant.

FANTASTIC BOX SET
Don't really know the series myself but my 15 yr old daughter loves it, it was a present for xmas, and has just watched the first dvd. Excellent purchase as it was reduced.
