Product Description

Sophie drowned as a child. She died for three minutes. Her childhood trauma is real.

Yet Sophie Smart, hot-shot advertising executive, isn't a child anymore. Now Sophie's most important client, handsome Matthew Silver, is insisting she learn how to swim. She can't blame him really - he's the owner of a chain of swimming centers, and Sophie's in charge of his new advertising campaign.

The last thing Sophie wants to do is get in the water, in a clingy swimsuit, with a client she’s trying to impress. She's not going to win him over flapping around like an idiot, is she?

But with a broken heart from her last relationship, maybe getting into the pool is just what Sophie needs? Maybe Sophie can trust Matthew with her fears. Maybe she can let go. Maybe it's time for Sophie to forget about her past and take the plunge?

About the Author

Alicia M Kaye is a writer of romantic fiction. She grew up in Australia, in sunny Queensland on a canal side property with her family. She also lived walking distance from Surfers Paradise, and the nearby beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast. Although Alicia is most probably and most certainly biased, she makes no secret in her belief that the Gold Coast is one the most breathtaking places in the world (where the beaches have real waves). However, by no means is Alicia a real surfer, although learning how to surf is definitely on her bucket list. When she was twenty-four, Alicia realised she was curious about the world and she jumped on a plane and relocated to London. The move was only supposed to be for two years, but seven and a half years later, she was still living there with her husband. Together they explored England, Europe and the world as much as possible. Although writing has always been a passion for Alicia it was in London where she began to write furiously. Writing is indeed a lonely occupation but luckily Alicia is not just a writer, she’s also an animal lover. She desperately would love a pet but her nomad life will not permit one. So, Alicia wrote this book with the company of a fostered cat (from the RSPCA) named Buttons (who is now called Clarence by his new adopted owners). When Buttons found his new parents she tried to encourage and attempt the stray cats of Highbury and Islington to take his place – to no avail. They would not join the party. Over the last two years Alicia and her husband started on their journey back home to Australia. There’s been a little bit of side-tracking, with both the beach and the snow beckoned from different parts of the world. Together they've explored and lived in amazing countries including Thailand, Mexico, Austria and Malta. Coming soon in June 2014 is another novel in the Skinny Sagas, Skinny Cappuccino.

More About the Author

Alicia M Kaye is a writer of romantic fiction. She grew up in Australia, in sunny Queensland on a canal side property with her family. Her family home was walking distance from Surfers Paradise, on the Gold Coast.

At twenty-four years old, Alicia jumped on a plane and relocated to London. The move was only supposed to be for two years, but seven and a half years later, she was still living there with her husband. She's written books in Thailand, Malta, Austria and of course the UK.

Alicia is not just a writer she's also an animal lover. She would love to own a pet but her nomad life will not permit one. Alicia used to write in the company of her year old, boisterous, fostered cat named Buttons. His online RSPCA profile (much like a dating site) attracted a flurry of attention from perspective new parents. A couple picked him up, called him Clarence and Alicia was left alone with the realisation that writing can indeed be a lonely profession. That's when she tried to encourage the stray cats of Highbury to take his place. She's found that offering cream or tuna fish has ensured frequent visits from a large, ginger tomcat (Sunny) and a mangy, black cat (Dark Knight).

Her titles include Skinny Dipping (February 2014) a second place winner of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards and Skinny Cappuccino (available in August 2014). She is currently working on further companion novels in the Skinny Sagas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly brilliant 4 Mar 2014

A good story line, plot and character development. Not twee nor sappy, but still a happily ever after type love story, I started reading and didn't put this down until I finished it! I recommend this and I'll definitely purchase more work from this author. I rate her along with sophie kinsella and Jill mansell.

5.0 out of 5 stars A master stroke. 21 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Jump right in, the writing is warm and refreshing, the story deep enough to find the occasional pearl. Sophie is a character that can be easily identified with and her tribulations are pleasantly commonplace. However, the quotidian nature of the story doesn't mean it is divested of interest, this is a story where character is the main element; it's unabashedly chick-lit and will appeal to those that like a sassy, young protagonist. A great read for the bus, tram or train, Alicia M Kaye will have you immersed in another world in no time. A great read and recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! I enjoyed reading this 20 Feb 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this book curled up in bed with a nice cup of tea. It was exactly what I needed to help me unwind at the end of a busy day.
From the start of the book, I was immediately hooked especially by the easy flow of the storyline. I really enjoyed reading this book and could not stop laughing at many hilarious scenes.
We are introduced to ambitious Sophie who has been thrown out of the flat by her boyfriend Derek. He feels threatened by Sophie's success and can't deal with the fact that she no longer has so much time for him. The author takes us through Sophie's hectic life in which we see her trying to impress her boss at all cost. The added pressure of the recession is making work more stressful and she is determined to get the advertising campaign for the Silver Family Leisure Group, running. After several months of trying to meet the elusive Matthew Silver she finally meets him in the most unusual manner.
Sophie reminded me of myself in some ways; I could relate to her love of Jamie Oliver cook books, her fear of water/swimming.
As we progress through the book I can feel Sophie's pain as she discovers that only days after breaking up with Derek he has already moved on? The author takes us on an interesting journey, as we follow Sophie's struggle to overcome her fear of water and her distrust for men.
This is a really nice book which I highly recommend; written brilliantly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written, very enjoyable read 17 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The quality of the writing was evident by how easily I slipped into Alicia M Kaye's book. I picked it up and time seemed to vanish! The characters were engaging and well drawn. I could identify with the the struggles and indecision. I had expected the book to be an escape read, but unlike other lightweight books of the genre, found it to have surprising depth and heart.

Skinny Dipping has been a great find and I am looking forward to Alicia's next novel - it will be exactly what I need!

5.0 out of 5 stars Swimmingly Good Read 21 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I throughly enjoyed this book. I could identify with the characters and the chemistry between Sophie and Matthew comes across. The author conveys Sophie' s fear of water well and the difficulty she faces in learning to swim as an adult. I did not learn to swim until my early thirties and I could identify with Sophie's feelings. I did get the book for free but it is worth the price. It is one of the best books I have read recently.
