It's a short, simple, drastically different diet--not necessarily easy, but simple and effective. The goal of this guide is to help people with eczema or almost any kind of skin disorder heal themselves without ongoing dependence on drugs, creams, lotions, or other medicine by relating what worked for this author personally to cure her eczema, dermatitis and acne. There's a lot of information out there, especially on the internet, but much of it can seem vague or conflicting regarding the combination of symptoms you may have. Waterford did a lot of informal research and trial and error over a long period of time and eventually cured her eczema, general health, and most of her allergies with a natural diet. If you've had no luck with doctors, allergy drugs, cortisone cream, or other eczema treatments, this particular combination of treatments that she stumbled upon may also help you.

I bought this book in desperation - I don't have eczema as seriously as some people but it was all on my face and spreading. The diet is VERY restrictive and, to be honest, I stuck to it for a day. However, I have taken the basic principals of it (more meat and veg, less fruit and refined carbs) and used it in combination with The Eczema Solution and my eczema has gone - I've been free of any kind of skin problems for about a month. I would advise people who are thinking about buying this book to check out her website first (google: skin cure diet kathleen waterford) and see what it involves before making the purchase.

If conventional eczema treatments haven't worked for you (creams, drugs etc.) this dietary approach might help. The author believes that a yeast infection (candida) was responsible for her severe eczema. She claims that a natural 'caveman type' diet (poultry, fish, meat, non legume vegetables, almonds and olive oil,etc. but no dairy, sugar, or grains) cured her symptoms. The diet Waterford recommends is quite restrictive, though you can introduce starchy foods like brown rice and new potatoes after five weeks, which makes it more balanced. There again it's a much healthier diet than many people eat and includes omega 3 oils, which experts recommend for healthy skin.
