An impressive looking piece of kit, and very useful too for cutting wood up to 115mm wide on a straight cut (78mm at 45 degrees); maximum thickness is 56mm (less for some cuts). It cuts with great ease, and it is a good clean cut. So far the cuts have not been of absolute true precession, but good enough and a great deal better than I could do by hand; maybe with use one will be able to improve on that.

It has a dust bag attached to the back, but it still manages to send sawdust, mostly to the sides and back, in a 1 metre radius. How durable this will prove to be is something only time will tell; if there is anything to report in that regard I will update the review.

My only complaint, as so often is the case these days, is with the instruction book. At 176 pages it is not slim, but after the first 16 pages which contain the instructions in diagram form only, there are just four and a half pages of written information in English, and that is almost all safety related information. So for working out how to use the saw one is dependant on the illustrations and diagrams which are reasonably clear; however the illustration of all the parts is on page 3, the key to what they are or do is on page 17 - it would have made life so much easier if the illustration was a fold out page, then whichever language you are reading it would be easy to cross reference.

We were amazed at how accurate this little saw is. For a very reasonable price you're getting a fantastic quality saw by a trusted brand that in no way gives a budget performance.

The initial set up was fine - took a small amount of adjustment and assembly but was up and running within 10 minutes.

Having never used a power saw we were impressed at how easy it is and how we ever managed without! On creating a simple table and a large frame - a job that would have normally taken us most of the day the time was cut in half - the reassurance of it's highly accurate angle cutting is the best part taking out a lot of the guess work and manual measuring has been invaluable. It's comfortable to use and quick to cut. recommended for smaller jobs as obviously the larger pieces you have to make extra cuts to join up to cut the whole piece.

The only comment on possible improvement is that the dust bag isn't overly effective - though obviously with manual cutting you have no dust bag at all so I'm not complaining! It catches around half of the dust which I suppose is better than none at all!

All in all this is absolutely impressive for the price - I'd be happy to recommend this even for novices like myself as long as you take the appropriate safety measures - goggles and gloves recommended and watch your fingers!

Pity about the mess it ideally need a vacuum plugged in but it's quick cuts well and it's really light weight great value for money. Especially when it's competing with £700 machines in same range

This mitre saw consists of a circular saw sitting on a heavy platform which is then drawn down to cut through wood at a range of angles. I've used a manual equivalent for a long time, but this is far better. It's quick to use and easy to figure out how to set it up as you want it (although the manual is poor with lots of diagrams and arrows but not so many words... I suspect to avoid having to translate it).

There is a dust collector although it seems to miss about as much as it collects, but otherwise I'm pleased. I make my own frames for photos so do lots of 45 degrees cuts and the results have been good. Like a circular saw, you need to allow for an extra millimetre in your measurements due to the width of blade (I sense it's nearer to 0.5mm for a manual saw). The cuts are quite clean but you need to make sure you cut the wood in the right direction so that the rough edge is hidden (practice makes perfect).

I've not used this brand before but it seems good. I doubt it's good enough for pros to use, but for my needs (keen amateur / DIY) it's great.

I was pleased to present this mitre saw to my better half who has always been a keen DIYer. All his adult life he has worked in the building trade and also done all the DIY jobs to be done about the house, he now likes to keep himself occupied in his retirement with any kind of woodworking has a hobby. He has had his mitre saw many years so was over the moon to try this new one. We have recently moved house and this saw is proving to be a handy tool to have around, brilliant for doing things like skirting boards etc. The man of the house gives this mitre saw a big thumbs up.

(Reviewed by my home woodworking enthusiast brother.)

I stopped buying Skil tools a few years ago, as I thought their quality was going downhill. So Skil wouldn't have usually crossed my mind for any type of saw. This mitre saw renews my faith in Skil, but not completely.

My first concern is how messy the saw is. It may as well not bother having the dust bag fitted. The saw sends the sawdust flying all over the place, so never use it in an enclosed space without breathing protection. It's louder than my usual mitre, so be ready for quite a racket.

The unit itself is just about stable enough, and after a month is still cutting clean lines, but I'm hesitant over whether it'll withstand more than hobby use or a few months heavy use on a project.
