Book Description

29 Oct 2012
Now published in paperback, Sketchbooks provides a revealing glimpse into the inner workings and private inspiration of creatives from the worlds of advertising, design, graphic design, fashion design, art, street art and illustration. Intimate and often unseen, artists' own notebooks document sources of inspiration as well as the journey to final execution. They show ideas and their evolution into accomplished works. Fresh and spontaneous, their style connects directly with current illustration trends. The material is complemented by interviews in which artists explain how they use their sketchbooks and how they relate to finished works. These, along with the sketchbooks themselves, give readers a direct and unmediated insight into the process of research and creation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great selection, well presented 19 Sep 2009
Format:Hardcover
Big fan of Laurence King books and this doesn't disappoint - good selection of artists, illustrators, designers, wide selection of styles, although many aren't traditional sketches but digital and collage.

I love this book, its great for if you are required to do some sort of sketchbook for a course, like advanced higher art, and don't really know what's going on, it just shows you how varied they could be.
Very good quality book. Quite thick (2cm ish) and weighty.
Love it!
