Heard a lot of hype about this scooter and so did my son. Now I wish I had never heard a thing.

It lasted a couple of weeks before it started giving way, I mean the main pillar would fold itself down as you are riding it. Sent it back to supplier who said it showed signs of misuse. OK, but my son had a cheapie JD bug which lasted him through years of identical type of usage.

The sprite looks nice and light but is seriously flawed. The lock mechanism has this black material which literally disintegrates like charcoal as the bolt goes in and comes out. After a couple of weeks it could not keep the lock in place, hence the thing bending down each time you hit a small bump.

I've never had a scooter before in my life, but after I purchased for my daughter a scooter for Christmas (not a micro) I realised that this would be a good idea to reduce my 20 minute commute of walking from the station to work, so that I'd also get into work earlier as well as take with me to the park with her to keep up if necessary.

I tried a few scooters in the shop, which was best as its very useful to feel how heavy these scooters are. I tried the micro flex (very nice to scoot on, and bigger wheeels, but struggled with the stiff folding mechanism, had two goes, but heavy). I tried the Micro White (very very nice to scoot on, biggest wheels, super smooth and goes a long distance easily, but knew I'd struggle with the weight as I'd have to carry it on the tube. I tried the jd bug this had an easier folding mechanism than the Flex, and was alot lighter but for me was still a struggle to extend/fold. The two I found easiest to fold were the Micro White and the Sprite. As soon as I tried the Sprite I was able to fold this easily, and it was the lightest and cheapest out of all of them which for me was a consideration. I do like the kickstand functionality as well.

I haven't yet tried this on my commute yet, but hope that this will be a very positive purchase. The Sprite is not designed for stunts which I'm fine with, that was explained in the shop however as I won't be using it for that purpose, I'm not fussed. If you want to do stunts you need a different micro scooter. I've ordered the micro bag in a bag to carry it in. Depending on how this experiment goes maybe in future I'd get the Micro White, or Micro Carbon Sprite (super light, 2.1 kg but most expensive) but we'll see. I'll update this review after I've used it to reduce my commute to advise how much walking time has been shaved off.

We purchased the Original Micro Scooter - Sprite, which arrived on 21st July 2008. Unfortunately, the scooter broke suddenly on 21st August 2008; i.e. it lasted for a month. The metal part of the folding deck (the part that joins the handle bar onto the base) broke first, then the folding deck broke into pieces. This happens to a friend of ours, who bought a more expensive version of Micro, which lasted for less than 3 weeks. Close inspection reveals that the folding deck is brittle.
We asked Micro for a replacement. Micro asked to see a photo of the bottom of the scooter. After seeing the photo, Micro told us that the scooter is out of guarantee, as it has been used roughly.
We bought Micro because we saw many Micro sponsored videos on the web showing stunts. These videos give its customers the wrong impression that Micro is a stong scooter, which it is not. The fact that Micro asked to see the bottom of the scooter indicates that they know the brittleness of the folding deck, and they know all along that many customers have used their products following the examples in their sponsored videos. Yet they have not warned their customers properly before their customers bought the scooter. This seems to be a case of irresponsible marketing.
We bought the scooter from SkateAsylum. They have kindly given us a replacement of the folding deck out of their own finance. We are pleased with this settlement. However, we feel that Micro should sort out their own problems. They should improve the quality of their scooters, and be more responsible for their promotional information.

My 6 year old loves it, it runs very smooth and much quiter than his previous, cheaper, scooter. It folds easy and looks cool.

Smooth, swift ride.
Quality product that ensures a smooth fast gliding ride. It does say it is not for stunts - which is a consideration when purchasing if this is what it is being bought for. Read more
