4.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting 8 May 2009
Format:Paperback
I enjoyed this very much. Emson puts an interesting spin on the possible starting point of the vampire mythos. The writing is punchy and could have used a little polishing - I imagine he'll improve with in later books. The publishers are a new company and unfortunately there are quite a few grammatical/spelling errors. I noticed at least 3 and that kind of thing drives me mad, but I'm probably just picky. The characters are extremely believable, which is something I look for in a novel, and I felt for them a great deal.

And it gave me nightmares, which is always a compliment for a horror novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars pleasant surprise! 19 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
Picked this up on the off chance and it was a nice surprise! An interesting re-exploration of the vampire myth (lots of familiar stuff, but some new elements too), weaving in the distribution of illicit tablets as the initial propogation... It was good to read something set in London...felt familiar! The writing is crisp and succinct. Good descriptive style...no holding back on chases, tension and a bit of the necessary horror. I would recommend and also would purposefully navigate towards another book by Emson based upon this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cant wait for the next one !!!! 24 Feb 2009
Format:Hardcover
This is the second book I've read by Thomas Emson and I wasn't disappointed! This thriller is dynamic and page-turning. The storyline is gripping and a little Gory but fantastic. There is suspense which will keep you turning the pages. I totally recommend it: the constant twists to the plot make for an interesting story and the short chapters make for a fast-paced read. I thought that this book was excellent, I never put it down. I would also recommend Maneater which is the first novel by Thomas emson and is also a page turner.
