Product Description

The life and times of Warwick Davis, star of Ricky Gervais′s forthcoming sitcom, Life′s Too Short

Actors work their entire careers hoping to achieve the kind of cult movie hero status that Davis achieved at the age of eleven playing Wicket W. Warrick, the lead Ewok in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. In this lively and down–to–earth memoir, Davis offers personal stories on the making of some of the most popular films of the last few decades—including the Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Leprechaun movie franchises, among many others—and shares the unique perspective of life as experienced by someone with a one–in–a–million genetic condition.

  • The real life of the man who helped destroy a Death Star, saved a princess, defeated an evil sorceress, taught magic to Harry Potter, became a Jedi Master, and embodied a mass murdering, gold–obsessed leprechaun—the one and only Warwick Davis
  • Warwick Davis′s honest look at the highs and lows of life as an actor and pop culture icon, from his screen debut in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi to his starring role in Ricky Gervais′s forthcoming sitcom, Life′s Too Short
  • Includes behind–the–scenes stories, from sweltering inside a furry Ewok costume and filling in for R2–D2 to sliding down a glacier at Mach 2 with Val Kilmer and getting kicked in the face by Ricky Gervais (again and again)
  • Features a foreword by George Lucas, who has been friends with Davis for almost three decades

Both refreshingly frank and highly entertaining, this book will help you see what life is like when it really is too short.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Warwick's autobiography. It was a very entertaining read (I caught myself laughing out loud on many occasions!) Warwick takes you on a journey from the moment he was born (when his parents discover he has a very rare form of dwarfism), through to getting his first film role as Wicket the Ewok in Star Wars, to getting married and starting a family (the high's and low's), and then starting his own acting agency business with his father in law, for small people and tall people... With many different film roles in between.

Very entertaining, Warwick's personality comes across in this book - there is a lot of quick witted humour. I loved how he told you what happened behind the scenes on the various filmsets he worked on, and shows you pictures of when he was on set. What great memories!

I'm really looking forward to Warwick's new BBC TV Series 'Life's Too Short' which he mentions in his book, and I've just read in the Manchester Evening News that it will be on our screens very soon!

Highly Recommended.

Brilliant!! 2 July 2010
Format:Hardcover
I have always liked Warwick Davis, but I recently saw him on Jonathan Ross and he was so entertaining and interesting I thought I would check out his book and i'm so glad I did. From start to finish it was a compelling read. Warwick has done so many things in his career so far and he writes about them with honesty, humour and pride. You find out so much about him, his family and his work so far, and also his obsession with McVities chocolate digestives!! The way he has written this book makes you feel like you know him personally once you've finished it and he has also included loads of photos from his home life as well as back stage pics from many of his film appearances. Even if you are not really a fan of his, I would recommend this book to anyone, I loved it, and so will you!!

Best off sticking to the acting
Personally I found this book to be poorly written although some of the blame must lay at the door of whoever edited it. The writing is simplistic, amateurish, dull and often banal. Read more
